The Norfolk Police Division is excited to invite families to the Landon Bos Bike Rodeo — a fun, educational event where kids can ride, learn bike safety, and spend the morning with our officers. Whether your child is just learning, cruising the neighborhood, or already loves riding, this is a great chance to build confidence and have some fun.

We would love to see a big turnout, so please share this post and help us spread the word to every family with kids who ride bikes!

Officer Beaird had the chance to stop by Norfolk Catholic High School and visit with Tom King’s driver’s ed class about traffic stops, safe driving, and what new drivers can expect when they are out on the road.

Driver’s ed is one of those great rites of passage. For some, it is the first taste of freedom. For others, it is the first time a parent realizes the passenger-side imaginary brake pedal does absolutely nothing.

A big thank you to instructor Tom King for inviting us in and for helping prepare young drivers for the responsibility that comes with getting behind the wheel. We appreciate the class for the great questions and for letting Officer Beaird be part of the day.

Now we have to ask… who out there has a good driver’s ed story? First time parallel parking? First traffic cone casualty? Nervous parent in the passenger seat? Let’s hear them.

Today we want to give a big shoutout to Hero Haven for the incredible work they do for law enforcement, first responders, veterans, and their families.

Hero Haven provides outdoor adventures and meaningful experiences for those who serve, and this time one of our own got the call.

Congratulations to Lt. Mike Strong for being selected for this Hog Hunt Adventure. Mike has served our community with dedication, professionalism, and a steady hand for many years, and this is a well-deserved opportunity for him to step away, enjoy some time with great people, and maybe bring home the bacon.

We are grateful for organizations like Hero Haven that recognize the toll public service can take, not only on the person wearing the badge, but on their family as well. Their support, appreciation, and generosity mean more than they probably know.

Enjoy the trip, Strong. Well deserved.

And for the record, if you come back empty-handed, we are still calling it a team-building exercise.

Congratulations to our Norfolk Police Division officers, our partners at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol Troop B, and the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department for being recognized today at the MADD Nebraska Awards Banquet in Lincoln.

Seven officers from the police division were honored for their work in DWI enforcement and Minor in Possession of Alcohol enforcement. These awards represent a lot of late nights, traffic stops, investigations, teamwork, and a shared commitment to keeping impaired drivers off the road and keeping alcohol out of the hands of minors.

We are proud of the work being done here in Norfolk and across Northeast Nebraska. DWI enforcement is not about numbers or trophies. It is about preventing crashes, saving lives, and helping make sure people get home safely.

That being said… they did bring home the hardware today, and we are proud of them for it.

Congratulations to everyone recognized, and thank you to MADD Nebraska for continuing to support law enforcement, victims, families, and safer communities across our state.

School is almost out for students, and our School Resource Officers are helping send them into summer with a smile.

Our SROs spend the school year doing a lot more than most people ever see. They help keep our schools safe, build relationships with students and staff, answer questions, solve problems, and yes, sometimes they even join in the fun.

Wednesday is the last day for students, and Thursday is the final day for teachers. We want to thank Norfolk Public Schools, students, teachers, staff and families for another great year of partnership.

Have a fun and safe summer, Panthers!!

Some kids win candy. Some kids win toys.

These two young men won the school pickup jackpot.

Christ Lutheran School recently held a fundraiser where parents could buy raffle tickets for a pretty unique prize: a ride home from school in a Norfolk Police cruiser. Two lucky students were selected, and Officer Beaird was happy to help deliver the experience.

Before heading home, the boys made a very important detour to the Norfolk Police Division, where they got a tour of Dispatch with Dispatcher Lindsey Morris and a sneak peek at the building construction going on at the station.

We are not sure who enjoyed it more, the boys, Officer Beaird, or Lindsey.

Thank you to Christ Lutheran School for including us in such a fun fundraiser, and congratulations to our two honorary officers for the day. We hope the ride home was just a little more exciting than usual.

No speeding tickets were issued, but there may have been excessive smiling.

The Joy Center lived up to its name today.

Tina Collison stopped by and surprised our officers with homemade pies to take back to the station. We are not sure what the official recipe is, but we are pretty confident the main ingredient was kindness.

Tina and the Joy Center do a great job bringing people together, lifting spirits, and spreading exactly what their name says: joy.

Thank you, Tina, and thank you to everyone at the Joy Center for thinking of us. A busy day at the police station gets a whole lot better when someone walks in carrying homemade pie!
