Yesterday morning, the crew of USS Ted Stevens had the honor of welcoming special guests during an All Hands Call. Our ship’s sponsors, Mrs. Catherine Stevens and Mrs. Lily Becker, and the commissioning committee president, Mrs. Cherrie Curry, addressed the crew. They shared stories of our namesake, Senator Ted Stevens, and the legacy of service, leadership, and dedication he represents. Their visit strengthens our connection to the ship’s heritage and reinforces the pride we take in serving aboard USS Ted Stevens.

This past week, our Deck Division, Electrician's Mates, and Machinist's Mates participated in Deck Self-Assessment and Groom Training (D-SAGT). This training is designed to enable the Ships Force to continue conducting system-level self-assessments, identify repair requirements, and conduct in-lifeline training for deck systems such as the anchor, helicopter hangar doors, and the 7M RIB.

Last Thursday we bid farewell to our first Executive Officer, Commander Ryan Andrews, who served on TED STEVENS from April 2024 to January 2026. His leadership, mentorship, and dedication were crucial in building our culture and preparing for key milestones. CDR Andrews was the driving force behind establishing shipboard programs and training teams.

Shoutout to two of our outstanding Sailors for their exceptional performance during trials!

FCA2 George and STG2 Woolard were both awarded a coin from SUPSHIP Gulf Coast (SSGC) for their incredible contributions: FCA2 George managed the SPY-6 radar during area and self defense detect-to-engage demonstrations resulting in the team achieving the highest possible score on the self-defense trial. STG2 Woolard ran the SONAR demonstration, resulting in green across the board.

BZ to both of them for their hard work and dedication!
