Last week, the West Virginia Swift Water Rescue Team took advantage of an opportunity to train with the U.S. Navy's HSC-5 World Famous Nightdippers to conduct aerial hoist rescue operations on the Kanawha River. Thanks to everyone who participated and got to witness the unique joint services operation.

Does anyone recall any of the details about the loss of a Sea King and it's crew in 1967? IIRC, the Essex remained in the crash-site area for about 3 days, and nothing was found. I was a mess cook at the time, and we didn't get many details. What really happened?
Looking for a list of HS-5 Commanding Officers - 1960 to 1965 when the squadron was aboard the USS Lake Champlain (CVS-39) - the last straight deck carrier. The data is needed for an article on the Lake Champlain to be published in Fall 2019 for the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. Good day - CDR Pete Calyton USN ret. - father was in HS-4 1956 to 1958.
Looking for the names of the HS-5 Commanding Officers during the period 1960 thru 1965 aboard the USS Lake Champlain (CVS-39). For a CV-39 history to be published in the Naval Aviation Museum FOUNDATION magazine.
