She sailed for America. She trained the next generation. She made memories at sea.

Now, she’s coming home! 🇺🇸🦅⚓️

For months, Eagle has been underway training Coast Guard cadets and SWABs, developing seamanship, building leaders and sharing America’s maritime heritage with communities along the way.

Her decks have seen hard work, long days, new friendships, first sails, challenging, evolutions and countless moments that will stay with those who experienced them.

But a homecoming is about more than bringing a ship back to the pier. It’s about bringing her people home, too.

Welcome home to the crew who sailed her, the cadets and SWABs who learned aboard her, and everyone who helped make this summer at sea possible.

For Eagle’s SWABs, every day underway brings a new challenge, a new skill, and another opportunity to learn from the crew around them.

Every evolution adds another skill. Every challenge builds confidence. Every mile brings them one step closer to becoming the leaders they’re training to be.

It was time for our SWABs to put their training to the test during the Square Rigger Olympics. ⚓️🏆

The competition challenged each team in events like heaving line, knot tying, damage control drills, line handling, and putting their teamwork, seamanship, and determination on full display.

Each event was an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen communication, and demonstrate the skills they’ve developed aboard USCGC Eagle.

Congratulations to all of the SWABs for their hard work and dedication throughout the competition.

Day 2 at Sea ⚓🌊

Another incredible day of hands on learning for our SWABs!

SWABs climbed the mast to help raise the sails, gaining confidence while working as a team high above the deck. They also completed firefighting training, donning full firefighting gear and learning to safely operate a fire hose to extinguish a simulated fire.

Training continued with time at the helm, practicing knot tying, and using a sextant to strengthen their navigation skills.

Every challenge builds confidence, teamwork, and leadership as they continue their journey at sea. We’re thrilled to be making our way into Newport, Rhode Island, and can’t wait to come into port and welcome visitors aboard America’s Tall Ship.

Welcome Aboard, Shipmates!

The first group of swabs from U.S. Coast Guard Academy has arrived aboard CGC Eagle and is already getting their first chance to get salty in the rigging aboard America’s Tall Ship.

As incoming freshmen, each swab completes a week of seamanship training aboard CGC Eagle before beginning the academic year. From climbing the rigging to learning the fundamentals of teamwork, leadership, and life underway, this experience lays the foundation for their journey as future Coast Guard officers.

Stay tuned as the Class of 2030 begins its adventure, embracing the challenges, traditions, and heritage of the sea aboard America’s Tall Ship.

Bittersweet goodbyes.

After six unforgettable weeks aboard USCGC Eagle, our Phase II cadets are heading ashore with new skills, stronger confidence, and memories that will last a lifetime.

From long days underway to shared challenges and countless laughs, they’ve become an important part of the Eagle crew. We’re proud of everything they’ve accomplished and excited to see where their journeys take them next.

Fair winds and following seas, Cadets, we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

Square Rigger Olympics!

After weeks of training aboard USCGC Eagle, it was time to put those skills to the test.

Cadets went head-to-head in a series of Square Rigger Olympics challenges, from heaving line throws and damage control scenarios to knot tying, seamanship skills, and even a push-up competition, all competing for the title of champions.

Congratulations to all the cadets for putting their training, teamwork, and determination on display.

And Congratulations to Division Formast 4 for rising to the top and earning this year’s Square Rigger Olympics championship!
