The Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District (LENRD) serves the people in all or parts of 15 counties in Northeast Nebraska, and is governed by a 15 member Board of Directors elected by the people of the district. NRDs have responsibilities in the following areas of resources conservation:
1. Prevention of damages from flood water and sediment
3. Flood prevention and control
4. Water supply for an

There are still a few days left to register for ACE Camp! The Lower Elkhorn NRD has scholarships available for students who attend! The camp is held at Camp Kaleo near Burwell and open to school children preparing to enter 7th or 8th grade during the 2026-2027 school year. Camp tuition includes meals, shirt, and lodging. Register by June 1, 2026.

There's still time to renew chemigation permits! Farmers planning to chemigate during the current growing season must renew chemigation permits by ❗June 1st❗ to meet state deadline requirements.

💧Chemigation renewal permits -$20
💧New chemigation permits cost - $50
💧If necessary, Emergency permits can be obtained at a cost of $250
