These reactions are often tied to the brain’s effort to stay alert and protect against future harm. Understanding this helps reduce stigma and encourages early support.

MCCS Counseling services, Military OneSource, and the Veterans Crisis Line are available to support Marines and families.

Long weekends. Lake days. Beach trips. BBQ grill days. Summer’s earned. Guard your progress, don’t let one careless moment undo a good day.

A few solid reminders:
• Hydrate early (not just when you’re overheated) 💦
• Be smart about alcohol in extreme heat ☀️
• Skip drinking when swimming or boating 🛥️
• Wear a life jacket every time (yes, even if you know how to swim!) 🦺
• Use the buddy system 👥
• Check the forecast ⛈️

Alcohol slows reaction time and judgement, and heat can make it worse. Water doesn’t give second chances. Look out for each other.
It’s not just an on-duty thing. It’s a life thing.
