State of the Commonwealth Report The State of the Commonwealth Report provides the equivalent of a physical exam for Virginia. How have we been doing? What are our challenges and prospects?

Which are the most important issues we face? While the Report’s focus is primarily on things economic, it also examines important governmental, health, political and social issues that are important to Virginians. The Report’s two major sponsors are the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, but neither is responsible for, or endorses, the conte

nt of the Report or any specific conclusions. The major sponsors and additional generous donors regard the State of the Commonwealth Report as a vehicle designed to promote greater discussion and understanding of major issues facing Virginia. They are united in being proud of Virginia’s many successes, but realize that it is possible to improve our performance. Developing a sound understanding of our current situation and discussing the policy options available to us are an almost four hundred year old tradition in Virginia. The State of the Commonwealth Report is pleased to continue this custom.
