Our next 20 Over 60 honoree is Tom Herr!

Tom is widely admired for his infectious smile, generous spirit, and unwavering commitment to serving others. For more than 25 years, he has been a dedicated member of the BN Sunrise Rotary Club. He serves on the PR Committee and acts as liaison to the Interact Club at Central Catholic High School. His creativity and drive have helped shape signature community events, including the Oktoberfest Run, which supports Rotary youth service programs, and The Bike Initiative, which collects and delivers unwanted bicycles to the West Bloomington Revitalization Project Bike Co op for repair and redistribution. He also co-created the Fat Tuesday Fun Run, benefiting the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Tom’s remarkable work ethic is matched by his humility. Whether he’s driving seniors to medical appointments through Faith in Action, supporting Knights of Columbus service projects, or quietly stepping in wherever help is needed, he brings positivity, reliability, and genuine care to every task. His past service with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and his involvement with the Lake Run Club and McLean County Wheelers further reflect a life centered on lifting others up.
Across every organization and every act of service, Tom lives by a simple but powerful motto: always try to do the right thing. His example strengthens our community and inspires everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him.

Our next 20 Over 60 honoree is Peggy Hardy!

Peggy has devoted her life to lifting up others. As an educator, she has taught across the globe, helping countless individuals earn their high school equivalency credentials and opening doors to new opportunities. Her compassion extends far beyond the classroom. She founded Pads4Girls, a global initiative that provides reusable menstrual pads and sewing training to women and girls in communities where poverty often forces students to miss school. Through this project, Peggy has not only supported women worldwide but has also empowered local volunteers to use their sewing talents for meaningful impact.
Her leadership is equally evident at home. Peggy is a two-term P.E.O. President and a lifelong member, committed to advancing educational opportunities for women. She has spent decades teaching, mentoring, and guiding small groups at Eastview Christian Church, where her steady presence has shaped countless lives. She also serves actively in Sunrise Rotary, continuing her lifelong pattern of service. Aside from Pads4Girls, she is grateful for her 45-year marriage to her supportive husband, Eric. Their children and grandchildren are such a blessing.
Peggy’s vision, compassion, and unwavering dedication make her an extraordinary example of what it means to serve others.
