Unit 5 is keeping a close eye on the weather and is aware of the potential for storms on Monday. Right now, it is still too early to know what, if anything, will impact our area.
We want to make families aware that an early dismissal is a possibility if conditions warrant. Nothing has been decided, but we want you to be prepared just in case.
We want to stress, no dismissal decisions have been made at this time; we will notify families in the morning, by 8:30 am.
We are canceling all elementary and junior high school field trips for Monday.
If Unit 5 were to release early, it would look different from our traditional early dismissal schedule.
Dismissal times would be:
Elementary schools: 1 p.m.
High schools: 1:48 p.m. (after sixth hour) / 2 p.m. (buses will depart)
Junior high schools: 2:15 p.m.
Early learning - Morning: 10:15 am (regular time)
Early learning - Afternoon: would not attend in person. Log into Teaching Strategies My Family portal.
Early learning - Full-day: 12:45 p.m.
There would be no after-school care in the buildings, including Scribbles, YMCA, and Normal Parks and Recreation. All afternoon activities would also be canceled, including practices, games, events, and building rentals.
Secondary schools will not have seventh and eighth hour classes. Staff members should stay through bus departure and then they can head home.
