The Baby Fold was honored to welcome Bishop David A. Bard, Presiding Bishop of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and Bishop of the Michigan Area in the United Methodist Church, along with his wife Julie, to campus last week. They spent time touring our programs, connecting with staff, and seeing firsthand the care and support provided to children and families every day.

They also joined members of our Board of Directors for a luncheon hosted at Normal First UMC, where conversation centered on shared purpose and service. We are grateful for their time, encouragement, and support of our mission.

"This school and the staff I've been around for as long as I can remember, has changed my life. Not every school is a partnership for everyone, but Hammitt is a place where everyone is accepted," shared the inspiring student speaker.

Last Friday, The Baby Fold’s Hammitt School senior class, alongside their families and teachers, celebrated graduation.

For some of these students, there were times along the way when graduation didn’t feel possible. But along with the challenges came growth, encouragement, friendships, and people who believed in them every step of the way. And last week, they proved to themselves and their families just how far they’ve come.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! We are so proud of you and the dedication and strength it took to reach this moment. Your next chapter is just beginning, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way. 🎉👨‍🎓

At The Baby Fold, our foster families are the real heroes in the lives of children from hard places. They create secure and supportive temporary homes for vulnerable children at their greatest time of need. 💙

A former foster youth who was placed with a Baby Fold foster family shared:

"It wasn’t easy entering the system, especially as a pre-teen with a rough past. My current foster mom, though, has been the mother figure I needed in my life. She accepted me for me and genuinely loves me. She has just been there for me through everything. She’s gone above and beyond for me, even taking in my siblings when she didn’t have to. She loved me unconditionally when she didn’t have to. Most importantly she understood me. Because of her, I believe there is hope."

At The Baby Fold, our SLPs partner with students in our special education programs every day—helping children express themselves, gain confidence, and engage more fully in their learning and relationships. Through patience, expertise, and deep care, they help unlock each child’s voice in meaningful ways.
