Congratulations to all of our competitors who played at the 2026 State Tennis Tournament last weekend! 🏅 🎾 Thank you to the incredible volunteers who spent the day with us, as well as Evergreen Racquet Club and Tennis Fitness Center for hosting again this year! 💜

Last weekend at the State Tennis Tournament, first-year Unified partners Katie and Michael Ge**er teamed up with athletes Sam Carrillo and Bradley Meserole to bring home gold medals for Region G agency SOAR - Special Opportunities Available in Recreation 🏅🎾

But for the Ge**ers, the biggest takeaway wasn't the hardware.

"I've learned to always look for the joy," Katie said. Michael added, "Their attitude, win, lose, or draw, is incredible. For the partners, there's so much to gain from that."

📢 State Tennis Tournament Update 📢

Update: Power has been restored! Sunday competition will take place as scheduled.

Due to power outages caused by recent inclement weather in Bloomington, State Tennis Tournament activities at Evergreen Racquet Club and Tennis Fitness Center scheduled for 🗓️ Saturday, August 15, are cancelled. This includes all Saturday matches, the skills competition, and Opening Ceremony.

🗓️ Sunday, August 16, competition will continue as scheduled, with no changes to the Sunday schedule.

The safety of our athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators is always our top priority.

Don't forget! Join us on 📆 Monday, August 24, from 4:00-8:00 PM for Tip-A-Cop at participating Texas Roadhouse locations...

Special Olympics Illinois is proud to be a finalist for the 2026 Cubs Charities Community Awards presented by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation! The awards recognize nonprofits advancing youth development through sports and education.
