The OAA State Championship Team for 2026 had a successful weekend of competition in Tulsa. The group, consisting of Leo Monroe, Blane Bodwell, Nico Del Mundo, Chase Wilt, and Logan Wiggins, placed 7th overall among over 60 teams that competed in both Regional and State Competition. OAA students Chase Wilt and Nico Del Mundo are featured in a news story from Fox 23 News in Tulsa. These students were participants in the inaugural Oklahoma High School Aviation Championship that was held on Friday and Saturday in Tulsa, OK.

OAA’s 9th-grade Aviation I students visited TACAMO on the Navy side of Tinker Air Force Base, gaining firsthand insight into the operations of an active military air base. Students learned about the mission, aircraft, and daily responsibilities of Navy personnel, deepening their understanding of real-world aviation careers and military aviation environments.

The OAA Tango Flight students are working hard on building the two Vans RV-12i aircraft. Through this hands-on project, they are developing a wide range of skills associated with aircraft fabrication and assembly. The team is making steady progress and hopes to complete the first build by May 2026.

What an exciting morning at the new OAA facility as the first two trusses for the multipurpose room were lifted into place. Each of the five trusses weighs approximately 20,000 pounds and will form the elevated ceiling of the space. Thank you to Manhattan Construction for sharing this photo. Exciting things are happening at OAA—both now and in the future!

The OAA AOPA Pilot and UAS track students received an informational tour of Max Westheimer Airfield from OU Airport Administrator Lance Lamkin. We appreciate him taking the time to explain the airfield's lighting systems, markings, and operational procedures that pilots use at Max Westheimer.
