Deputy Don Environmental Crimes Investigator for Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office

A computer chip. That’s what is keeping the new program from progressing and work not being done! The new truck is at the shop to be up fit and can’t be finished because of a computer chip in the light and siren control box.

Things are taking shape for my new role as Environmental Crimes Investigator at Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office. They purchased a brand new truck and trailer for the role. The truck is scheduled to be up fitted with a brush guard front bumper with built in winch, emergency lighting, and other features. It’s going to be nice working with an agency that has the funding and commitment to get the job done.

Big news coming soon. I will be updating this page in a couple of weeks.

Friday will be my last day with Logan County Sheriff’s Office. I have accepted a position with Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office. Since I moved further away from Logan County it just made sense to consider an agency closer to home, and I was offered a position at just the right time. I will try to keep this page open but the direction I take with it may vary from the current format. I may keep it business related, or I may move it towards a fun look at Law Enforcement. Maybe tell funny stories or something similar.

We got 10 more of these bad boys in today. I plan to deploy them out in rural areas that are popular with illegal dumping offenders. If you get caught dumping, the fines range from $500-$8000.

Last week I responded to a call of illegal trash dumping at a local hangout known as “Baker’s Bridge”. Found this dump site. My investigation revealed a name and address to the owner of the trash. The owner admitted that a family
member hauled off their trash recently and identified these items as their property that was hauled off. The owner of the trash was cited and voluntarily cleaned up the dump site.
You are legally responsible for ensuring your trash ends up at a legal/proper dump site even if you have someone else haul it away. Be sure that a reputable person is hauling your trash away.

This a kind of a “fixer upper”. We dug this 1990 Mitsubishi pickup out of the creek bottom at a dump site. I will be following up with the registered owner soon.

So I took a couple of inmates out to this big dump site to pick up more of the items and we found an entire pickup truck buried under the trash. We are going to have to dig it out to check the VIN to find out if it was a stolen vehicle or not. Stay tuned. This might take a while!

The use of game cameras has helped me to make cases against illegal dump offenders. If you spot a game camera along the road side, leave it alone. Tampering with or stealing a camera could get you charged with a criminal offense.
