Members, Caregivers, and Community Friends,
It is with great disappointment (yet determination!) that we must announce that our plans for a new location and re-opening have been put on hold indefinitely once again due to notice of a loss in operational funding for FY22.
While we are in a much better financial position than we have been in years past (in spite of the pandemic), we are not going to be able to move into our new location at this time as it is simply not fiscally responsible with a budget cut of this size.
NEXT STEPS:
- First and foremost, readjusting our budget
- We will continue to collaborate with groups around the city and meet up with members at different locations. Our goal is to have set locations and time on specific days. We will rotate these in-person days with virtual programs.
-We are going to share our locations each month with CART/EMBARK (paratransit) so that members may plan rides to each meetup in advance.
-We are going to fundraise aggressively to make up for this loss. If you would be interested in joining our fundraising committee, please let us know. This is an all hands on deck year.
While we are disappointed to lose this vital piece of funding, we are confident that we will thrive. Caregivers and people with disabilities are used to swimming upstream and fighting the odds. We have sustained a pandemic, a natural disaster, a complete insurance loss, and now we will weather this storm as well.
