Our persistent weather pattern continues for at least another day, with hot & humid conditions (everywhere) and low chances for storms/severe weather (west-north Oklahoma) in the afternoon into evening.

12:30 AM [Wednesday, June 10th] - A slowly decaying area of rain and storms continues to approach northwestern Oklahoma early this morning.

In addition to lightning, the potential for strong wind gusts (~50-55 mph) will continue both near and away from storms.

06/10/2026

6/9 9 PM - Storms are approaching northwest OK. Activity is expected to weaken over time, but a few strong wind gusts are possible in the shaded region through 11 PM.

06/09/2026

6/9 415 PM - Storms are developing across eastern NM into the OK/TX panhandles and southwest KS. Much of this activity is expected to remain to our northwest, but there remains ~20% chance for storms to reach northwest OK this evening with the main risk being severe wind gusts.

Scattered clouds developed near/south of I-44 this morning. This has two impacts for us:

A) Temperatures are a little slower to warm where cloud cover exists, reducing heat risk.

B) Plenty of daytime heating is occurring in northwest Oklahoma, where storm risk is greatest.

Not a big fan of the heat? Hang in there. Today, tomorrow, and Thursday will continue to be oppressive, but there is an increasingly strong signal for temperatures to cool off by 5-10 (maybe even 15 in spots) degrees early next week.

We tied a record for the warmest June 8th low temperature at OKC yesterday. At 77 degrees, we matched the record previously set in 2005.

Here's your forecast for today:

The night shift forecaster described to me as "honestly, kind of a repeat of yesterday". It's that time of year - hot, breezy, humid, and a low chance of storms in northwest Oklahoma in the evening.
