Williams for Ward 8

Williams for Ward 8 City Council Candidate Chad Williams recently announced his candidacy for the Ward 8 City Council Seat. He and wife, Amanda, live in the Prairie Creek addition.

Current Ward 8 council member Dan Quinn has said he will not run for reelection. The ward encompasses portions of northwest and north central Norman. Williams, 32, has been the associate pastor of Harvest Church for four years. He oversees the facilities, various ministries, the budget and pastoral care services. Prior to entering the ministry, Williams owned the framing company Paradigm Construct

ion for three years. He was also in business with his father in National Consultants, a family business offering occupational safety and health administration consulting to small businesses.

“In my years as a business owner and now as a minister, I have worked with the city on various issues related to permitting, zoning and operating within the city,” Williams said. “I am running for city council to ensure our local government is fiscally prudent, open and transparent on behalf of its citizens. That is our No. 1 priority.

“As a husband and, hopefully, a father one day, I want to make sure our neighborhoods are safe, that we make the funding of public safety and our first responders a priority.

“Finally, I want to live in a community that values small business. Our city will thrive if we create a strong business environment. We must work hand-in-hand with business to grow our tax base that funds vital services.

“I look forward to meeting other residents of Ward 8 and listening to their concerns for our city and taking those concerns to city hall.”

Williams is a third-generation resident of Norman. Williams serves as vice chairman of the board of directors for the Eden Clinic in Norman. He also volunteers as a coach with the Whittier basketball team and other city teams.
