After serving nearly 8 ½ years on the bench as a Special Judge in Cleveland County, Judge Scott Brockman is resigning his position as Special Judge and returning to private practice, effective July 20, 2026. We are grateful for Judge Brockman’s years of service on the bench; he’s been a steady hand presiding over tens of thousands of cases. His ability to manage high-volume dockets efficiently, integrate technology, and balance justice and mercy in applying the law has earned him high praise from members of the bar as well as his colleagues on the bench. We are deeply grateful for Judge Brockman’s service to the judiciary and to our community, and we wish him every success in this next chapter of his professional career.

In anticipation of the vacancy, the Special Judge position is now posted on oscn.net and applications are being accepted until June 12th. The District Court of Cleveland County expects there will be a seamless transition of services once a new Special Judge is appointed to replace Judge Brockman

CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — In a time when we’re constantly looking down at our phones or sitting in front of a screen, it’s a breath of fresh air to get outside and move around. That’s why the Cleveland County Economic Development Coalition revamped the trails at Lake Thunderbird.

The Cleveland County Economic Development Coalition, with Cleveland County Commissioners, Visit Norman, the State Department of Tourism, and the Bureau of Reclamation, cut the ribbon on new trails at Lake Thunderbird, hidden beneath the trees, winding around the Clear Bay area.

It’s a $1 million investment, a remnant from COVID funds, to promote healthy activities outside.

Thirteen years ago this month, Cleveland County answered the call to help after devastating tornadoes struck the Pecan Valley area in east Norman on May 19 and Moore on May 20. County crews, emergency personnel and partner agencies worked alongside the affected communities to support response and recovery efforts during one of the most difficult times in our community’s history.
Today, we remember the lives impacted, the strength shown by our residents and the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors that carried Cleveland County through the aftermath.
