As County Commissioners, we wear many hats, and last night I sported the graduation tam and regalia . We celebrated Montgomery County Community College 's 59th Commencement with over 1400 graduates. In my remarks I noted, "for every dollar Montgomery County invests in this college, our community gains more than nine dollars back in economic and social value. Thats a 900% return! My executive administrator, Kim Henderson 's daughter, Meagan, graduated in this class, giving us an extra special reason to celebrate last night's class. We wish all Graduates in the Class of 2026 a bright, happy, successful future!

The threats and violent rhetoric targeting elected officials have gotten completely out of control.

I don’t care what political party you belong to — threatening violence or death against anyone because of politics is wrong and cannot be tolerated.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve on bipartisan boards with people I strongly disagreed with at times. We debated issues, challenged each other, and fought for what we believed in — but never once did I wish harm on anyone.

We can disagree without hatred. We can debate without threats. We can stand firm in our beliefs without dehumanizing others.

Before anyone comments with “your side said this” or “their side did that,” stop. This is not about defending one party over another. It’s about basic decency and respect for human life.

All of it needs to stop. Plain and simple.
