On Wednesday, June 10 at 6PM, visit NAPL to join nationally known Revolutionary War era historian Timothy Abbott as he discusses his extensive research on Colonel John Brown of Pittsfield, and Berkshire County volunteers at the October 1780 Battle of Stone Arabia.

Five companies of State Levies from Western Massachusetts, under Col. John Brown, were near the end of their three-month tour of duty defending the New York frontier, when a strong force
of British loyalists and allies swept through the Schoharie and Mohawk Valleys. Colonel Brown, and nearly forty men died at the Battle of Stone Arabia: the greatest loss of life experienced by Berkshire and Hampshire County men in any engagement of the Revolutionary War.
