It's September 2022. The ol' Mansion has been silent for few years since any information has been posted. It is unfortunate that nothing has changed. Still closed and no public is allowed. I will be digging through old photos and maybe take a few new ones to post for the Halloween season.

Well it looks like we woke a bear, put a stick in a bees nest while stirring the pot. To the "HYPOTHETICAL" question, no one will hold any event except the owners "IF" they were hypothetically interested. Just wanted to see if there was still an interest. Just keep following the page. If anything changes, you will know.

How much would you pay to spend the night with 4-8 of your friends? Just a hypothetical question.

The portrait hung in Lafayette-Greylock Lodge since its painting, for the former Mayor when the structure was his home.

One year ago today, I visited Houghton Mansion for a final investigation. It was a bittersweet experience for me as the mansion felt like home and the people I had met felt like family. I could not truly say “farewell” until I was able to document all that I experienced.

I am excited to announce that my fourth book is now published and is available on Amazon and through other outlets. The subject? Houghton Mansion, of course!

This is a true story of my experiences within Houghton Mansion. I take a nostalgic look back at the many laughs, the unexplained phenomena, the heartbreak, and the impact the mansion and her spirits had on my own life.

At first, I had a lot of fun writing "Walking Amongst the Shadows: Houghton Mansion." I recalled many of the new faces and names I had met as I explored the mysteries of the mansion. As I was finishing the book, I felt the heartache of the mansion’s sale all over again. The mansion is now in my rear-view mirror as I reflect on my life, but it remains a big part of who I am.

This book is my “farewell” to a truly magical building. I hope you enjoy it!

Our Story

Hello and welcome to the Official Houghton Mansion page. The Houghton Mansion was the home of Albert C. Houghton who sold it to Lafayette-Greylock Lodge of Masons. Paranormal hunts and tours, of the past, were coordinated through the "Berkshire Paranormal Group" of North Adams, Mass. For many years Ghost Hunts and walk through tours were given to help pay for the upkeep and bills the building incurred. But at one point the bills overtook the income and the Freemasons had to make the hard decision to put it up for sale and move to a new location. The Freemasons now hold their meetings at 59 Summer St and are still very active. The old Lodge (Mansion) is now privately owned and is undergoing renovations and will remain closed to the public. It was not an easy decision, many of the Brethren spent many hours there, cleaning, practicing the Masonic ritual, giving walk through tours or all night ghost hunts and sometimes just relaxing in the beautiful rooms. It was a hard move. But time stands still for no one and the deal is done. If you were one of the fortunate folks who had the opportunity to attend. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the memories on this page.
