As the semester comes to an end, we would like to give special thanks to Student Intern Michael Wormuth, who on December 15th, 2025, completed 225-hours of integrated learning for his internship with the MCLA Police Department. Throughout the fall semester, Intern Wormuth has successfully applied himself while learning a wide range of topics crucial to law enforcement and being a pro-active Law Enforcement Officer. He worked closely with members of the department assisting with calls for service and through specialized trainings. Intern Wormuth learned patrol procedure for the following: Massachusetts Criminal Law, low and high-risk traffic stops, motor vehicle accidents/searches, building searches/clearing, crime scene investigation, basic first aid and CPR for both infants and adults, community engagement during PD events, report writing, radio usage and the importance of officer safety.
All training was completed with a strong emphasis on safety, within controlled environments on campus under the supervision of one or more officers on duty. Including the usage of ‘blue guns’ (non-firing, decoys) which provide a simulated experience for proper usage and handling of a duty firearm during active hands-on training, when applicable.
We wish Intern Wormuth good luck in all his future endeavors!
