From everyone at MCLA we wanted to thank everyone involved at the National Night Out this year. It was a great opportunity to connect with numerous members within the community and build a special bond with them. Also, would like to thank all of the community agencies and volunteers that make this event possible every year. A special thank you goes out to our amazing staff who represented the MCLA Police Department and our special guest Murdock, who made another appearance this year and made a positive impact to many throughout the evening!

The MCLA Police Department would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers for the tragic loss of Massachusetts State Police Trooper Jacob Mick.

Massachusetts State Police Announce the Death of Trooper in Off-Duty Motorcycle Crash

With heavy hearts, the Massachusetts State Police announce the unexpected death of Trooper Jacob Mick who died from injuries sustained in an off-duty motorcycle crash in Grafton.

A member of the 88th Recruit Training Troop assigned to the Holden Barracks, the life of this 31-year-old Northboro native has been cut short by this enormous tragedy.

Speaking of the late Trooper, the Superintendent of the State Police, Colonel Geoffrey Noble said, “Together, we mourn Trooper Jacob Mick, and extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, their infant daughter, his family, and all who loved him. He was a proud Trooper and public servant who never hesitated to answer the call. We remember and honor Trooper Mick’s years of service, and all he gave to the Commonwealth as well as to the Department.”

Trooper Mick graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in 2023.

The facts and the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

At this time, the Mick Family requests privacy as they grieve. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Thank you to the YMCA Youth Summer Camp for inviting us to visit with the kids for their community hero week! Our Officers enjoyed answering questions and talking about what we do here on campus to keep everyone safe. We spent time showing the kids how a cruiser is set up and all the tools we use. We hope you all have a fun and safe rest of your summer!

Today our department takes pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service in the U.S military. Those who through courage, dedication, and bravery, gave their lives for this country and the freedoms we have today. Fallen, but never forgotten.
