Thanks for everyone from Helping Hands for all of their work in gathering prizes for the Chinese raffle, the band with the good music that kept us all going; and making all the arrangements with the Readsboro Inn. Thanks to the Readsboro Inn for the great space and for the buffet from which proceeds went to Louison House. Thanks to all who attended. It was a fun afternoon.

Thanks also to Helping Hands and Readsboro Inn for the TV raffle that took place around Halloween. Between the 2 fundraisers, Louison House received a little over $2100.
THANK YOU everyone!

We had fantastic prizes like a $150 money tree - pictured- with real bills as the bows and so many more prizes including: 2 Echos; $200 in Amazon gift cards; a night out with dinner, MASS MoCA tickets, necklace and wine; a wellness treat including 2 massage certificates and personal trainer sessions, and a 55" smart TV,

Laura Christensen

Please go to see the Shel-ter Exhibit at Gallery 51 in North Adams. It opens this Thursday, August 30th as part of DownstreetArt. Laura Christensen is an artist participating in this exhibit and is donating part of the proceeds from the sale of her artwork at this exhibit to Louison House (this is only Laura who is donating sales to LH, not the entire exhibit, but all the artwork will be great to see). Please go see the exihbit and say Hi to Laura and thank her for thinking of Louison House.

More about the artist: Laura Christensen, a local artist is donating parts of the proceeds from the sale of her art work that will be part of Shel-ter, a group exhibit coming up at Gallery 51 in downtown North Adams. The opening reception is Thursday, August 30thfrom 5-8pm. For this exhibit, the stories involve notions of shelter as physical structure, care, and protection.

Vintage photographs are the basis of Laura’s art, the canvas for her painting. By the time the pictures get to Laura, chains of personal connections have broken and the subjects become characters in another story, her art work. In making the work for this exhibit, Laura said: “I struggle to psychologically shelter myself from news of our country’s actions. I worry for people without shelter. I am distressed by the cruel separation of children and parents. But I find hope in the compassionate and creative work of those who offer care and refuge. Louison House provides such support to individuals and families struggling with homelessness in Northern Berkshire. Their work sustains my trust in human nature. “ for more about Laura’s work visit her website: https://laurachristensen.wordpress.com/

This is Casper, he needs someone to care for him just for the evening for next couple of weeks until we get the couple into an apartment. They can care for him during the days. They are at Louison House currently and we cannot have dogs unless service licensed and only then if room. We are totally full with 22 people. Casper is friendly obedient calm. Etc. alittle intimidated by my old dog but doing fine. Chose to be in kitchen while Rudy in bedroom. Good with my cat. Only wanted to chase one time when cat ran and stopped when I told him to stop. I am leaving town to visit family for week so I can’t take him after tonight. Call Louison House if you can help. 663-6322. Ext 4 is staffed 24/7
