Did You Know… the Rose Garden at Stevens-Coolidge stands where the horse barn once stood?
As Helen Stevens Coolidge reimagined the landscape, she recorded her vision in her think book—a shared journal with her husband, John. She dreamed of transforming the former barnyard into “a garden of delicious smells.”
That dream blossomed into the fragrant Rose Garden visitors enjoy today. Helen selected many roses for their exceptional fragrance, creating a space that engages the senses as much as the eye. Filled with richly scented cultivars, the garden invites guests to slow down, breathe deeply, and experience one of Helen’s most personal garden designs.
Next time you visit, take a moment to stop and smell the roses. You’re experiencing a vision that Helen imagined more than a century ago—a garden designed to delight with every bloom and every breath.
