Good afternoon Aurora Township Residents:

Storm damage...what a summer! Highway Department crews are heading out into the unincorporated areas of Aurora Township during the intervals between the storms to grab branches and limbs. Please be mindful that we are picking the piles up by hand, so it is easier to grab many smaller piles rather than one large, tangled pile.

As with previous events, these branches and limbs should be brought as close to the road as possible (without being in the road) and do not need to be bundled or cut into smaller pieces (within reason, please).

Remember that the Aurora Township Highway Department is unable to take full trees and cannot take trunks of trees - however small the chunks are cut. A rule of thumb...if you have a tree come down and are calling a tree service, you should have the service remove the cut up material as part of their work.

Aurora Township Highway Department crews will make several passes through the unincorporated areas to grab as much material as possible. So, if you see a truck go by today or tomorrow, don't worry, we'll be back again.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office (630-892-0246).

Thank you and have a great day!

Good morning Aurora Township Residents:

I want to share a new flood reporting tool from the Kane County Department of Environmental & Water Resources. They are encouraging residents to utilize this portal to flag problem areas and to upload any photos and videos you may have which depict the problem.

This portal is new and a Kane County project, so please be patient as you use this tool.

Thank you.

Good afternoon Aurora Township Residents:

After completing a final pass through the unincorporated areas of Aurora Township today, I am pretty confident the crew grabbed all of the storm damage we are able to take. (Our chipper is definitely ready for a break as well.)

Again, thank you all for your patience as the ATHD crew worked through the piles of limbs and branches.

I appreciate the kind words that many of you have sent along. I definitely pass along those comments to the crew and they appreciate the acknowledgment of their efforts.

We will still conduct an abbreviated brush pick up session at the end of the month. Regular brush pick up rules are now back in effect.

Have a great weekend!

Good morning Aurora Township Residents:

The deluge seems to be over...5.75" in 3 hours is a lot of rain. While we will likely have more rain over the weekend, it shouldn't be as heavy as Thursday's storm.

Much of the heavy damage seems to be concentrated on the southwest part of the Township, but the weather was bad for everyone.

To help residents of the unincorporated areas clean up the storm damage, starting on Monday, July 6th, the Aurora Township Highway Department will be picking up storm damage (tree limbs and branches) throughout the unincorporated areas.

(We will be making several trips through the unincorporated areas picking up storm damage, so if you don't have everything out on Monday, we will be through many times.)

A couple of things to remember:
#1 - We cannot take tree trunks, but we will take as much of the smaller material as we can over the next couple of weeks.
#2 - We are going to ask you to bring the limbs and branches as close to the road as possible.
#3 - My crew is unable to bring material from your back yards, but they will be as thorough in your front yards as possible.
#4 - Storm damage does not need to be cut and bundled. (Regular brush pick up rules will apply for the regular monthly brush pick up events.)

If you have any questions about the storm damage pick up, please call the office (630-892-0246).

Thank you in advance for your patience as we commence the clean up.

Have a safe holiday weekend!
