Beginning September 17, 2026, new Village regulations regarding bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, skateboards, and similar devices will take effect.

Key changes include:
• Motorized bicycles, e-bikes, motorized scooters, motorized skateboards, and similar motorized devices are prohibited on sidewalks throughout the Village.
• In the Downtown Business Area on Main Street between Water Street and Broadway Street, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, roller skates, e-bikes, and similar devices may not be ridden on the sidewalk and must be walked.
• These devices may not be operated on streets closed for parades, festivals, or other special events.

Please help keep our sidewalks and public areas safe for everyone.

Invasive Species Reminder

Please help stop the spread of the Tree of Heaven and Spotted Lanternfly. Tree of Heaven spreads aggressively and is a preferred host for Spotted Lanternfly, which can damage trees, crops, grapevines, and other plants.

If you have a Tree of Heaven, please consider removing it. If you see a Spotted Lanternfly or egg masses, destroy them immediately.

Inoperable Vehicle Reminder - The Village of North Baltimore would like to remind residents that inoperable vehicles may not remain on private property for more than seven (7) days unless they are stored inside an enclosed building or garage.

A vehicle may be considered inoperable if it:
* Does not display a current registration plate and sticker when registration is required;
* Cannot safely or legally be driven on public streets;
* Has flat or missing tires or wheels;
* Has broken or missing windows; or
* Is missing major parts such as doors, hood, trunk lid, engine, transmission, or other drivetrain components.

In general, if a vehicle cannot legally be driven it should not be stored outdoors on a property for an extended period. Residents with an inoperable vehicle should make arrangements to repair it, properly register it, remove it from the property, and/or store it inside a closed building or garage.

The Village’s goal is to address these situations cooperatively before formal code enforcement becomes necessary. This is not a new law. This has been in place since 2003.

As summer continues, the Village reminds all property owners to help keep our streets safe by trimming trees, shrubs, and other vegetation along streets, alleys, and sidewalks. Overgrown vegetation can block visibility, obstruct sidewalks, and create safety hazards for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and emergency responders.

Please take a few minutes to:
• Trim branches that overhang streets, alleys, and sidewalks.
• Cut back bushes and other vegetation that extend into the public right-of-way.
• Keep vegetation at intersections trimmed to maintain clear sight lines for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

As a reminder, property owners and occupants are responsible for keeping grass and weeds trimmed to no more than 5 inches in height. Maintaining your property helps reduce pests, improves neighborhood appearance, and keeps our community safe and welcoming. Residents are reminded that tires may not be stored outside on any property. Under Village Code Sections 521.11, 521.16, and 1303.06, tires are considered vehicle parts and debris and must be properly disposed of or stored inside an enclosed structure. Tires also may not be used for landscaping, garden borders, or other outdoor purposes. They collect standing water, creating breeding areas for mosquitoes, attract rodents, and contribute to blight.

Need to dispose of tires? Luckey Farmers (101 E. State Street, North Baltimore) accepts tires at the following rates:
• Lawnmower Tires – $3
• Car/Pickup Truck Tires – $5
• Semi-Truck Tires – $10
• Tractor Tires – $1 per inch

⚠️ AIR QUALITY ALERT – HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS ⚠️
An Air Quality Alert has been issued for our region today, July 16, 2026, due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires. Air quality has reached the HAZARDOUS level, the highest category on the Air Quality Index (AQI). These conditions pose a health risk to everyone—not just those with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

Please take the following precautions:
• Avoid all outdoor physical activity.
• Stay indoors as much as possible and keep windows and doors closed.
• If you must be outdoors, wear a properly fitted N95 respirator. Cloth face coverings and surgical masks do not provide adequate protection from smoke particles.
• If your home does not have air conditioning and becomes too hot, seek a cool, air-conditioned location.

Frontier's door-to-door solicitation permit expires today, July 16, 2026. Beginning tomorrow, Frontier representatives are no longer authorized to conduct door-to-door solicitation within the Village of North Baltimore.

Defend Our Drains: Grease may be liquid when it’s hot, but it hardens in pipes. Trash it, don’t drain it.

Pouring grease down the sink can clog pipes and damage sewers. Let it cool, then throw it away.
Drains aren’t trash cans. Grease belongs in the bin, not the sink. 🚫🛢️

The Village has received notification from the U.S. Postal Service that a portion of the monthly water bills have been delayed in transit. They are estimated to be delivered to residents on July 10th.

Residents may call (419) 257-2394 to receive their monthly account balance or visit the Village Office at 205 North Main Street to request a physical copy of bills.

Water bills are due July 15.
