🔥 BBQ season is here! This past weekend, the North Bellmore Fire Department conducted hands-on training for propane tank emergencies with a controlled propane burn-off exercise.
Before firing up the grill, be sure to inspect your propane tanks, hoses, and connections for any leaks to help keep your home safe this season! 🌭🍔

With the upcoming snowstorm, please remember to clear the snow from around nearby fire hydrants. Keeping hydrants accessible allows firefighters to respond quickly in an emergency and can help save lives.

On Saturday, February 7th during freezing weather conditions and just hours after responding to a previous house fire, the North Bellmore Fire Department received multiple calls reporting an apartment fire. When firefighters arrived, they encountered an active fire inside the building. Firefighters evacuated residents and rescued three individuals who were trapped, bringing them outside to receive medical treatment for minor injuries. Thankfully firefighters were able to prevent the fire from extending to additional apartments. A hydrant buried in snow in front of the building delayed the fire engine’s water supply, forcing firefighters to dig it out and causing potentially life-threatening delays. Please remember to keep hydrants clear!

On the evening of Saturday, February 7, 2026, the North Bellmore Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a residential fire with possible occupants trapped inside. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions throughout the home. Despite freezing temperatures, crews worked diligently to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring houses. Fortunately, all occupants had evacuated safely prior to their arrival, and no injuries were reported.
