Another month, another incredible look at the progress taking place at North Bend Family Housing!

This month's drone footage showcases how quickly Phase I is coming together as we move closer to welcoming residents home. What was once the former Bangor School site is being transformed into a vibrant community that will provide 105 new affordable homes for individuals and families in North Bend.

Projects like this are only possible through strong partnerships. We want to extend a sincere thank you to LMC Construction for their outstanding work and dedication to delivering a high-quality development, and to Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) for their continued investment in affordable housing and their partnership throughout this project. Their support is helping make this transformational community a reality.

We are also grateful to the many partners, consultants, and Housing Authority staff whose collaboration continues to move this project forward.

🏡 Applications Are Now Open for North Bend Family Housing!

The North Bend City Housing Authority is excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for North Bend Family Housing Phase I, our newest affordable housing community in North Bend.

Opening in October 2026, this development will provide high-quality, energy-efficient homes for local families and represents one of the largest investments in affordable housing on the South Coast in decades.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our partners from Coastal Center and Coos Health & Wellness for a tour of North Bend Family Housing Phase I.

It was a great opportunity to showcase the incredible progress being made by LMC Construction and our amazing sun contractors. as this transformative development moves closer to completion. Seeing the project take shape is exciting, but what makes it even more meaningful is the opportunity to share that vision with the organizations that will play such an important role in its success.

For Coos Health & Wellness, the tour also provided a firsthand look at the space where they will be delivering Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) services. Integrating quality housing with supportive services is essential to helping residents achieve long-term stability, and we are grateful for the partnership that will make that possible.

Projects like North Bend Family Housing are about more than constructing buildings—they're about building a coordinated system of care that brings together housing, healthcare, behavioral health, and community partners to create lasting opportunities for individuals and families.

North Bend Family Housing Phase I continues to take shape!

Today we completed another punch walk through the project, reviewing the details that bring us one step closer to welcoming residents home. Every fixture, finish, and final adjustment matters because these homes will serve individuals and families in our community for decades to come.

We're also excited to share that applications for the affordable housing units will be released by Cushman & Wakefield later this week. We encourage anyone interested to watch for additional information and application details in the coming days.

It's exciting to see the vision becoming a reality. Soon, 105 new affordable homes will help address one of our region's greatest needs while creating opportunities for stability, independence, and stronger communities.

A huge thank you to our development team, contractors, funding partners, and everyone working behind the scenes to make this project possible. We look forward to sharing more progress as we move toward completion!

Last year we ended the year with a wave of preservation and energy upgrades. This year we're launching a new wave of preservation and energy efficiency investments across our affordable housing portfolio.

The first phase alone represents approximately $1.3 million being invested to preserve existing affordable housing, improve energy performance, reduce operating costs, and enhance comfort for the residents who call these communities home.

This work wouldn't be possible without true collaboration. A huge thank you to Energy Trust of Oregon and OR-MEP for helping braid funding opportunities and incentives, and to Umpqua Sheet Metal for bringing the expertise needed to identify and maximize every available investment. By coordinating these resources, we're able to stretch every dollar further and make a much greater impact across multiple housing communities.

Too often, affordable housing conversations focus only on building new units. Those projects are critical, but preserving the housing we already have is just as important. Every dollar invested in modernization today extends the life of these properties, improves efficiency, and helps keep them affordable for decades to come.

This is only the beginning. We're excited to continue this work across additional sites throughout our portfolio as we invest in both the future of our properties and the people who live in them.

Over the past month, we've had the privilege of welcoming a number of partners to tour North Bend Family Housing as construction moves closer to completion.

We've been honored to host representatives from Business Oregon, the Governor's Office, the City of North Bend - Oregon City Council, North Bend School District, Alternative Youth Activities (AYA), The Salvation Army Cascade Division, Banner Bank, RE/MAX South Coast, Coos Bay Area, OR and other community partners.

These tours are about more than showing off a building. They're an opportunity to demonstrate what collaboration looks like in practice. Every hallway, apartment, and courtyard represents years of partnership between local, state, nonprofit, financial, and private-sector organizations working toward a shared goal: creating high-quality, affordable homes for our community.

When completed, North Bend Family Housing will provide 105 affordable homes, including 20 Permanent Supportive Housing units, helping families, seniors, and individuals build stability while strengthening the South Coast's housing system.
