Little Theatre on the Bay

LTOB is a not-for-profit community theatre that produces a variety of theatrical performances. We discover and develop local talent while providing enrichment and entertainment to our local community and beyond. We are the 2nd longest running community theatre in Oregon, operating out of the beautiful and historic Liberty Theatre in North Bend. We are currently renovatin

g our lovely building to its former glory; updating and expanding facilities while keeping the historical integrity of the theatre. We are run by a board of directors and an all-volunteer staff and we put on anywhere from 10 to 20 separate events per year; rarely a weekend goes by without an offering from Little Theatre on the Bay. Live music, dramatic and comedic plays, stage musicals, and variety shows all make up our various offerings.

Ansel Tauber is at the directing helm again with our 79th season opener: “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” – a unique mystery based upon the book of the same title. Ansel began his LTOB career as spotlight operator in our 2018 youth production of “The Little Mermaid,” and most recently appeared on the Liberty stage as Dr. John Watson in last season’s “Moriarty” (pictured here). You’ve also seen Ansel on our stage as a Morris dancer in “Witch” (2025), Noah Claypole in “Oliver!” (2024), and Baxter in “Anchorman: Herald of Athens” (2023).

Ansel directed our productions of “Other Desert Cities” (2023) and “God of Carnage” (2023). He says he is “deeply excited to present ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ to our community, and to push the limits of the theatre's technology to most effectively bring Christopher's world to life."

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” runs September 18, 19, 25, & 26 at 7pm and September 27 at 2pm. In addition, there will be a free, autism-friendly performance on Sunday, September 20 at 2pm, sponsored by Pathways to Positive Parenting.

When asked what attracted him to our upcoming play “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” director Ansel Tauber says, “The story is extremely important to me as a neurodivergent person and as someone who works with neuordiverse people. I saw the original West End production, and it stuck with me. Now that The Liberty Theatre is fully restored, they have the technology to make this show happen.” “Curious Incident” is a play known for its lighting and projection effects, and as part of our $4 million restoration project, we upgraded both systems.

“There are many intricate, different technical and acting elements that have to come together to make the show work,” Tauber says.

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” runs September 18, 19, 25, & 26 at 7pm and September 27 at 2pm. In addition, there will be a free, autism-friendly performance on Sunday September 20 at 2pm, sponsored by Pathways to Positive Parenting. Grab your tickets today at www.TheLibertyTheatre.org!

Have you seen these cards popping up around town? They are a clue in the mystery of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” which opens September 18th at The Liberty Theatre.

Based on Marc Haddon’s bestselling novel of the same name, and winner of five Tony Awards (including Best Play), this captivating mystery follows Christopher Boone, a brilliant neurodivergent teenager, as he investigates the murder of his next-door neighbor’s dog and uncovers truths that change his world. It’s funny, moving, and unlike anything else on our stage this season.

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” runs September 18 - 27th. September 20th’s matinee will be a free, autism-friendly performance sponsored by Pathways to Positive Parenting. (Please note: This play is rated PG-13.)
