Drinking Water Week (May 3-9) This week (and every week), we're celebrating our drinking water. We're proud to
provide clean, safe, and reliable water to our customers every day. Our drinking water comes from protected
watersheds in the Cascade Mountains before winding its way to your tap. A dedicated team of professionals works
year-round to maintain pipes and reduce leaks in the system so we don't waste this precious resource. You can help
too! Check your home for leaks (start with toilets, faucets, and sprinkler systems) and use water wisely when you turn
on the tap. For tips, tools, and rebates, visit SavingWater.org.

Native Americans cultivated camas plants on a prairie below what is now called Rattlesnake Lake. The first U. S. Government survey map of 1851 labeled this spot as Rattlesnake Prairie. This is likely a reference to camas or "rattlesnake grass" which describes the sound made by seed pods in a breeze.

Most of the work that keeps drinking water safe happens quietly in the background. Water is routinely treated, tested and monitored to meet strict safety standards. Equipment is checked, systems are maintained, and data is scrutinized so any potential issues can be addressed early. Behind the scenes, water professionals are doing this work so the water at your tap is safe and reliable.
