๐ŸŽ“ Prom night, North Bend style.

Our North Bend Police Department School Resource Officers and Reserve Officers had a great time supporting the recent North Bend High School Senior Prom โ€” and based on the photos, there may be some evidence that they enjoyed the evening just as much as the students. Maybe more. ๐Ÿ˜„

These are the moments that reflect what community policing is all about: showing up, building relationships, celebrating milestones, and helping make special nights safe and memorable.

Next stop: the Senior All-Night Party, where we suspect there will be even more smiles, photo ops, and unforgettable Class of 2026 memories.

Congratulations, North Bend High School Class of 2026! Enjoy these final moments, stay safe, and take it all in. Youโ€™ve earned it. ๐Ÿถ๐ŸŽ“

Big things are happening at the North Bend Police Department, and with everything going on recently, this important update almost slipped through the cracks.

We are excited to announce that Officer Brett Stark has been selected to move into our investigations position.

For nearly five years, the department operated without a dedicated investigations position while efforts were focused on rebuilding patrol staffing levels. During that time, major investigations had to be handled by patrol officers while also responding to the constant demand for calls for service throughout the community.

As our investigator, Officer Starkโ€™s primary focus will be major person and property crimes, including s*x abuse investigations and major theft cases. Along with these responsibilities, he will also serve on the Coos County Major Crimes Team.

This position is separate from the future narcotics investigator position that will be added as a result of the passing of Measure 6-228. That position will focus on drug-related investigations and enforcement efforts within our community, along with assisting with other major criminal investigations when needed.

Officer Stark began his career with the North Bend Police Department as a Reserve Officer in 2012 before being hired full time in 2016. Throughout his career with NBPD, he has served as a Field Training Officer and Patrol Shift Supervisor, gaining valuable experience that will serve him well in this new role. He is also a trained Crisis Negotiator, further strengthening his ability to respond to complex and high-risk incidents.

Officer Stark has already hit the ground running, taking the lead on several major investigations for our agency. He has also re-established working relationships with our federal partners and helped reconnect our department with the Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Stark on this important assignment and wishing him success in this critical role for our department and community.

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Officers Stark and Sanne! ๐ŸŽ‰

Last Friday, Officers Stark and Sanne successfully completed the 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training held at the Ko-Kwel Casino in North Bend.

The CIT program is a collaborative partnership between law enforcement, mental health professionals, addiction specialists, advocates, and community organizations. This specialized training helps officers recognize and respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises through communication, de-escalation techniques, and increased understanding of behavioral health challenges.

By completing this training, Officers Stark and Sanne have gained valuable tools that will help strengthen their ability to safely and effectively assist members of our community during difficult situations while continuing to build positive relationships with local partner agencies and resources. Training like this helps ensure our officers can continue providing compassionate, professional, and effective assistance to the citizens of North Bend when they need it most.

Please join us in congratulating Officers Stark and Sanne on this accomplishment and their continued commitment to our community! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Reserve Officer Turk! ๐ŸŽ‰

Reserve Officer Turk has officially completed all of the requirements to get into uniform! This included successfully completing the Reserve Officer Academy, fi****ms qualifications, and use of force training.

While he still has a long road ahead filled with extensive hands-on training before being released to patrol on his own, we are proud to have him as part of our team. His hard work, dedication, and commitment are an incredible addition to our Reserve Unit, the department, and the City of North Bend.

Officer Turk spent his first day in uniform alongside our reserve officers and full-time officers working at the carnival, jumping right in to support the community.

Please join us in congratulating Reserve Officer Turk on this important milestone! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš”

On May 1, 2026, the DEA released information regarding a significant investigation resulting in eight individuals being charged in connection with a transnational drug trafficking organization responsible for moving fentanyl and methamphetamine from Mexico into the United States, with distribution activity reaching Oregon.

This investigation involved coordination between multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. SCINT (South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team) and other assisting agencies contributed to supporting investigative efforts alongside their partner agencies.

During the course of this investigation, law enforcement seized approximately 56 pounds of fentanyl, 116 pounds of methamphetamine, more than $300,000 in U.S. currency, and 20 fi****ms from members of the organization.

Cases like this highlight the ongoing threat posed by drug trafficking organizations and the importance of coordinated multi-agency efforts in protecting our local communities from the impacts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and related criminal activity.

A sincere thank you to SCINT and all partner agencies involved in this investigation. Your professionalism and dedication continue to make a meaningful difference in keeping our communities safe. ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘
