We Have a Trustworthy Guide, by Evangelist Dr. Charles Anthony
It takes sincerity to recognize that we are not fit to go through life alone.
Reading - Psalm 32.8-11
In my office there is a photographic work that illustrates the Lord Jesus standing, pointing forward while he is behind a young man. The Lord's hand is on the teenager's shoulder, and I can imagine him saying, “This is the path we're going to take. I will guide you." Although the path will be marked with both joy and suffering, the Lord leads us all the time to our eternal home.
It takes sincerity to recognize that we are not fit to go through life alone. With our own strength, limited knowledge, and human reasoning, we cannot be sure that our decisions are wise. The Lord is willing and can guide us if we let him. To stay in tune with God, obey his direction, read his Word, and practice biblical precepts.
For those of us who follow the Lord, eternity in heaven is beyond our last heartbeat. And that is where our Savior is leading us. The path may not be clear to our eyes, but the Lord Jesus is leading us there with a steady and sure hand. It is up to us to follow him obediently so that, when we get to heaven, we hear the Father say: Well done! (cf. Mt 25.21)
