North Bergen Police Department

North Bergen Police Department North Bergen Police Department welcomes you to our official page. Our number one priority is the community we serve.
(1)

On behalf of the 140 men and women of the North Bergen Police Department, I would like to welcome you to the North Bergen Police Departmentโ€™s official page. On May 1, 2020, I became the 10th police chief in this Departmentโ€™s 113-year history. Today, our roles as police officers are almost unrecognizable from when I became a police officer in 1998. Our responsibilities have expanded greatl

y beyond the traditional role of policing. The success of a police department depends on its ability to recruit, develop, and field officers who not only understand their role as traditional police officers, but who also recognize their responsibility to their community. It is now more important than ever that police officers build trust within the communities they serve in order to encourage participation and lasting partnerships in an effort to reduce crime and improve the quality of life. The Township of North Bergen is an extremely diverse community which is represented and served by an equally diverse police department. This is because our ranks are filled with residents who come from the community that we serve. Our resident-only hiring policy plays an important role in ensuring that the NBPD is truly representative of our community. Our police officers are your neighbors, former students, patrons, coworkers, friends, and family. In 2019, the North Bergen Police Department Responded to nearly 150,000 calls for service. Through the collaborative efforts of our police officers and our community, the Township of North Bergen is the 6th safest city in New Jersey and now the 23rd safest city in the nation. These milestones could not have been achievable without your cooperation and support. The North Bergen Police Department is also an accredited law enforcement agency. Accreditation acknowledges our commitment to excellence in law enforcement by providing our community with the most proactive, efficient, effective, and constitutionally-sound law enforcement services based on best practices. Last year, the North Bergen Police Department renewed its accreditation status through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and exceeded in many accreditation standards representing a significant professional achievement for the Department. I would like to thank Mayor Nicholas J. Sacco, Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual, and the entire Board of Commissioners for the Township of North Bergen, for their unwavering support of this agency. It is with their support that the North Bergen Police Department is properly trained, equipped, and educated to provide the highest quality of police services to the Township. I am extremely proud of the work the brave men and women of this department do each and every day to guarantee the safety of the people of North Bergen. They are selfless in their dedication to their duties and I am truly fortunate to have the opportunity to lead such a tremendous group of individuals. I look forward to continuing to work with members of our community to keep people safe and to listen to their voices on how best to serve and protect them. Our main priority has and will always be public safety and the quality of life for the Township of North Bergen. Very truly yours, Peter Fasilis Chief of Police

Due to heavy winds and the passing storm, the North Bergen Police Department is experiencing a high volume of calls for downed trees and wires.

On June 6, 1944, more than 150,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, in the largest amphibious invasion in history. Their courage, sacrifice, and determination marked a turning point in World War II and helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

Eighty two years later, we honor the heroes of the Greatest Generation who answered the call, faced unimaginable danger, and changed the course of history.

The North Bergen Police Department proudly remembers the brave men who served on D Day and all veterans who have defended our nation.

We will never forget.

This past Saturday, North Bergen Police Chief Robert J. Farley, Jr. joined Commissioner Hugo Cabrera and Hudson County Commissioner Bob Baselice at the annual BAPS Charities Walkathon held at North Hudson County Park.

BAPS Charities is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health, education, environmental stewardship, humanitarian relief, and community service through volunteerism and charitable initiatives. Their commitment to strengthening communities continues to make a positive impact both locally and around the world.

We are grateful for BAPS Charitiesโ€™ generous pledge to support the North Bergen PBA Civic Association. Funds raised through this initiative will be used to purchase bicycles that will be raffled off to children during National Night Out events held throughout North Bergen, helping encourage healthy activity while strengthening community partnerships.

Also representing our law enforcement unions was PBA Local 18A Superior Officers Association Vice President Sgt. Erick Rodriguez, who attended in support of this outstanding community event.

Thank you to BAPS Charities and all participants for making this event a tremendous success.
