As we finished up the first half of the year, here is a quick review of some of the events that your North Boston Volunteer Firefighters have been up too.
January- cleared out hydrants and reviewed winter time responses and weather related emergencies
February- our yearly OSHA and HAZMAT response reviews. We also were sent to South Wales for coverage while they were at a large barn fire.
March- Erie county came out to us and taught a class in building construction.
April- assisted at the BEFO/IFO classes with Boston Fire. Erie county also came out with their forcible entry trailer to work on skills.
May- Work with our pump operators and drivers on our refreshers for driving. Also in May we had a family gathering where we all went bowling together.
The start of June we worked with Patchin Fire doing a pump training and apparatus review to know what our mutual aid companies have.
Our retention and recruitment committees has been working hard to plan an open house for the public to come into our station and meet your local volunteers.
Our raffle committee still has 150 tickets left available. Stop by the hall any Monday around 7pm or message the page and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Our volunteers have responded to 67 calls for the year in the town of Boston and surrounding areas such as Springville, East Concord, South Wales, Hamburg, Orchard park and Eden. We are very grateful to work with all surrounding towns and villages. At the rate we are going we may have the most calls in company history.
Final note we are receiving more applications lately and we want to thank everyone who is taking the stepping up to help our community!
