Chief Meyer recently had the privilege of swearing in our newest officer, Justin Engen! Officer Engen has officially joined our department and is currently completing his field training.

Justin served six years in the Minnesota Army National Guard. While attending college, he also worked as a site supervisor for a security company in Minneapolis.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, pets and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings! Sorry, Packers fans…not sorry!

Please join us in giving Officer Engen a warm welcome, and be sure to say hello when you see him out in the community!

Our speed trailers are out and about in North Branch, helping remind drivers to slow down in areas where speeding has become a concern.

If there’s a street or neighborhood where you’ve noticed speeding, let us know! We have a limited number of speed trailers available and will do our best to place them where they’re needed most. Areas with higher numbers of speeding complaints will be given priority.

Whether you’re a cyclist, pedestrian or driver, you share Minnesota roads and multi-use paths with all kinds of travelers. These shared spaces are meant to be a safe place for everyone, but an illegal e-moto puts regular commuters and families at risk.

Under Minnesota law, an electric device is not considered a legal e-bike if it doesn’t have working pedals, has a motor larger than 750 watts, or goes faster than 28 mph while pedaling or 20 mph when using just the throttle. Vehicles exceeding these limits are illegal on paths and require a driver’s license to operate on public roads.

Additionally, legal e-bikes have age restrictions. You must be 15 years of age or older to operate an e-bike in Minnesota. Know the rules and keep everyone safe.
