HRA‑EDA Showcases Taylors Falls Redevelopment Property at MREE Meeting

In early April, HRA‑EDA Executive Director Nancy Hoffman, alongside Taylors Falls City Council Member Tim Grote, presented the MnDOT‑owned redevelopment site currently for sale at the bi‑weekly Minnesota Real Estate Exchange (MREE) meeting.

The fast‑paced presentation reached an engaged audience of developers, investors, and commercial real estate brokers and provided detailed information about the property, its location, and redevelopment potential.
The discussion generated strong interest and thoughtful questions, reinforcing the value of showcasing local redevelopment opportunities directly to real estate professionals.

We were honored to join Jerry’s Foods – North Branch for a ribbon cutting celebrating their recent re-brand. The event featured a great in-store display, festive decorations, fun giveaways, and special sales—making it a truly exciting day for both the community and the store team.

Community and business leaders were on hand to show their support, including Chamber board members and ambassadors, City of North Branch leadership, and partners from across Chisago County. We extend a special congratulations to the entire Jerry’s Foods team, including Store Director Darwin McQuerter, on this milestone and continued investment in North Branch.

As part of Minnesota’s Shop Local initiative, Amplio CEO Brian McDonald recently joined Mark Erickson, regional president of MidWestOne Bank, for a visit to Uncommon Loon Brewing Company in Chisago City. Also in attendance were Chisago County HRA-EDA Executive Director Nancy Hoffman; SBDC State Director Andy Donahue; SBA Deputy District Director Chris Wicker; and SBA Lead Outreach and Marketing Specialist Don Michael Jackson.
The group met with Head Brewer Brad Klatt for a tour of the facility and a conversation about the brewery’s growth. Uncommon Loon opened in 2019 with support from the Minnesota Small Business Development Center, Amplio 504 funding, MidWestOne Bank, and several community lenders. Since then, the brewery has built a loyal following and recently added a canning system to expand product distribution.
The brewing company owns the historic building it occupies, which includes a former fire station and ballroom space. The facility also serves the American Legion and hosts a variety of community events, clubs, and wedding celebrations.
The owners have been recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration as “Encore Entrepreneurs” for the State of Minnesota, honoring their success in starting a business after the age of 50.
