Will you sign a pledge to vote in the upcoming election?

Your vote matters!

When you vote, you help choose the people who run our local, state, and federal governments. Our governments make laws. They decide how money is spent. They make choices that affect our schools, jobs, health care, and daily lives. These choices make a big difference for people with disabilities and their families.

Voting is one of the most powerful ways to shape the future of our community and the choices that affect people with disabilities.

When you make a public promise, you are more likely to follow through. We created this pledge to help you, your family, and friends show your commitment to voting.

By signing this pledge, you agree to:
-Vote in the 2026 election.
-Make a plan for how and when you will vote.
-Learn about the people who are running for office and issues that matter to you.
-Take part in the election in a way that works for you.
-Encourage your friends and family to vote.
-After you sign up, we will send you updates about voting this year and ways to take action with The Arc.

The New Jersey Statewide Self-Advocacy Network (NJSSAN) is made up of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) throughout the state. The NJSSAN is used as means of supporting positive change on both a personal and social level. It consists of 6 Councils based on geographic location within the state.

The regional Councils meet on a monthly basis and are open and free to all individuals with IDD. The NJSAP team collaborates with the Council leadership to create an agenda based on what the self-advocates wish to discuss. The NJSSAN Council meetings are a chance for advocates to voice their perspective, learn about issues that impact their lives and the lives of other people with IDD, socialize, and to develop strong advocacy skills.

The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) came out with an amazing resource all about water safety for folks with IDD.

Water activities can provide enjoyment, exercise, and social opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Adults with IDD face a significantly elevated risk around water compared to the general population. Drowning is fast, silent, and preventable. Safe participation requires active supervision, preparation, and consistent safety practices.
