The National Heart of the Nation Walk has officially achieved participation in all 50 states! Now, our mission deepens. We are honoring the 13 Fallen Heroes who inspired this annual tradition by securing 13 Walks PER home state.
Today, our hearts and our focus are on Ohio, the home State of Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class Maxton W. Soviak.
During the chaotic American withdrawal from Afghanistan, "Doc" Soviak stood as a fearless guardian at the Abbey Gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport. When the urgent call of "Corpsman Up!" echoed through the crowd, Max didn't hesitate. He stepped forward to provide medical aid to a mother and child, fearlessly putting his own life on the line to save others.
To ensure his fierce spirit lives on, his PROUD Gold Star Family founded the Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak Memorial Foundation. Built on the way Max lived his 22 years at 110%, the foundation’s mission is clear: to provide Veterans and their families with the adventures, experiences, and resources they need to transition back into civilian life and Live Life to the MAX! From funding vital service and emotional support dogs to providing adaptive family trips, they are continuing Max's legacy of looking out for his brothers and sisters in arms.
