Meet Dominek and Avery! Since being matched, Avery has gotten to watch Dominek grow in so many ways — from graduating 5th grade on the A/B Honor Roll to being accepted into the Rollings School of the Arts for Vocal! ✨

A lot of their time together is spent doing something Dominek loves most: music. Whether Avery is listening to her practice, helping her work through a song, or just playing DJ in the car while Dominek sings, those little moments have become some of their favorite memories. Now, Dominek is dreaming BIG about pursuing music in college and even has schools like NYU and Juilliard on her list.

We’re so proud to celebrate Dominek and Avery this and the special bond they’ve built along the way. 💚

We are proud to announce Keonta’ Ramsey as the new Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry.

A James Island native, Keonta has spent nearly a decade mentoring young people across our region and previously served on our Board of Directors, where she chaired the Development Committee. Her path to this role reflects a deep personal commitment to mentorship and a proven ability to build the partnerships and resources that sustain this work.

As she steps into this role, Keonta is focused on strengthening support for our Bigs and Littles, deepening collaboration across the Lowcountry’s mentoring community, and growing our capacity to reach the young people waiting for a mentor.

When Aylivia’s guardian enrolled her in Big Brothers Big Sisters, she wanted her to have more opportunities to explore Charleston, try new things, and meet people outside of her household.

Since being matched with Xandra, Aylivia has become more confident, especially when speaking with others and putting herself out there. That confidence is showing up in BIG ways. She has now been hired for two different jobs!

One moment her guardian will never forget was when Aylivia was hired at Tropical Smoothie. She was so proud of herself, and seeing that confidence and sense of accomplishment meant so much.

Having Xandra in her corner has given Aylivia someone to encourage, support, and celebrate her wins. We’re so proud of how far she has come and can’t wait to see what she does next! 💚

We’re excited to partner with Tidal Wave North Charleston again this year for their annual Charity Day of giving back to our community! 💚

All day on Friday, September 18th, 50% of proceeds from every wash will directly support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry’s mission, helping us continue creating meaningful mentoring relationships for local youth. The remaining 50% will benefit the missions of Annandale Village and The Joseph Sams School.

We hope you’ll stop by Tidal Wave North Charleston on September 18 and join us in supporting these organizations and the important work they do in our communities.

Our matches made the most of the summer sun at Whirlin’ Waters! ☀️🌊 They spent the day enjoying the water slides, playing in the water, and spending quality time together. It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer and make new memories that last forever!

A special thank you to the Charleston County Parks Foundation for supporting our matches and helping make experiences like this possible. 💚
