With near record cold temperatures expected overnight, there’s a high probability that partially melted snow or ice will refreeze, creating black ice that’s difficult to see and dangerous to drive on.

Local law enforcement agencies will monitor conditions overnight and may close bridges within their jurisdiction that they deem unsafe for travel. Residents are urged to remain off the roads.

Due to the possibility for unsafe travel conditions, the Charleston County Council Committees originally scheduled to meet tonight will instead convene at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, prior to the regularly scheduled County Council meeting.

The meetings will take place in Council Chambers at the Lonnie Hamilton, III Public Services Building (4045 Bridge View Dr.), as planned.

Charleston County offices and staffed convenience centers will be closed on Monday, January 20 in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Curbside recycling collection will not be impacted, so if Monday is your collection day, please remember to have your bin at the curb by 7 a.m.

Charleston County Public Works officials will deliver their quarterly Palmetto Commerce Interchange construction update during a public meeting set for 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Northwoods Gym and Community Center, located at 8348 Greenridge Road in North Charleston.

The project team will provide a project overview, progress update, and future plans. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and speak with project team members at the meeting.
