In a coastal region where hurricanes can quickly upend daily life, preparation must begin long before a storm arrives. In those moments, families need reliable access to food, shelter, transportation, supplies and trusted information.

For ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families, one storm can quickly deepen financial pressure and make recovery harder when emergency savings are already out of reach.

We're proud to share we've received an $80,000 grant from Coastal Community Foundation to launch a coordinated disaster preparedness, response and long-term recovery effort in Charleston County. The funding supports the creation of a full-time VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster) Manager position, helping to bring local organizations and government agencies together to ensure communities recieve the right support at the right time.

Thank you, Coastal Community Foundation, for your generous support that helps our community prepare for disasters, respond quickly when needs arise and guide families through recovery.

Happy Pride Month 🌈

Pride reminds us that everyone deserves dignity, support and the opportunity to build a better future.

By coming together in support and understanding, we can shape stronger communities where everyone thrives.

The rising cost of everyday life is changing what stability looks like for families across the Tri-County region.

For many households, there is not just one pressure point. There is a pileup. A higher rent payment. A larger grocery bill. A childcare increase. A utility bill that stretches the budget too far.

And for ALICE families, just one unexpected expense can be enough to push a household from stability into crisis.

Trident United Way is working alongside community partners to help families navigate challenges before they become crises.

Together, we can build a region where more working families can thrive.

Thank you to Pinnacle Financial Partners for giving back to our community!

Volunteers from Pinnacle recently participated in a TUW Engage+ activity focused on supporting older adults living below the ALICE Threshold. The team learned how rising costs are impacting older adults, many of whom are on fixed incomes— in South Carolina, 51% of households headed by an adult age 65 or older live below the ALICE Threshold.

They then packed 250 senior kits to be shared with our community partners across the Tri-County. These kits provide comfort and wellness items that support dignity and independence for older adults.
