Because of expected severe weather, Meeting Street- Burns will be closed on Wednesday, March 5.

We understand that school closures can be disruptive, and we apologize for the late notice. Districts across the state have canceled classes because of the potentially hazardous conditions, including Charleston.

Staff are expected to work remotely, but this is not an eLearning day.

Thank you for your support as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Stay safe!

In recognition of Black History Month, we are asking each student to complete a research project on an influential African American. Students will choose a person and collect information for their project. Students may receive assistance from a parent or guardian.

Students who make a poster will receive Kona Ice before the Community Celebration on 2/28 and their poster will be on display.

The library and computer are resources that can be used to find information on their person. If you need assistance with a picture please let your child's teacher know. Each project needs to be on a small tri-fold board which is $2.97 from Walmart.

We encourage you all to be creative, have fun and “think outside the box”. We are so excited to see the amazing projects that are submitted. Again, have fun and please let us know if you need assistance or have additional questions.

Information Required- you will include the following information on your board:

● Person’s name
● Person’s birthday
● Person’s death date (if applicable)
● Where your person was born
● Where your person went to college (if applicable) and degrees earned
● Any accomplishments your person achieved (honors/awards).
● What their important contribution was
● Why their contribution is important
● Any fun facts you have found about your person.

Final project due Thursday, February 27th.
