🚨 ONE TRANSPORTED FOLLOWING I-90 ACCIDENT AT PA WELCOME CENTER 🚨

Just before 10:00 a.m., the North East Fire Department was dispatched to Interstate 90 westbound at the Pennsylvania Welcome Center for a reported single-vehicle accident.

Chief 211 (Lam) arrived on scene, confirmed the location, and reported one patient confined inside the vehicle. Crescent Squad 207 and Fuller Rescue Engine 204 arrived, and crews utilized electric-hydraulic rescue tools to remove the driver’s door and gain access to the patient. The patient was packaged and transported to a local hospital for treatment with East Erie County EMS.

Utility 219 assisted with traffic control while crews operated along the interstate. Crews then cleared the highway. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the accident. Chief 211 had command on East Tac 1.

🚨 CALL RECAP — I-90 WATER RESCUE 🚨

Just before 11:00 PM last night, as severe weather was moving through our area, the North East Fire Department was dispatched for a vehicle partially submerged in flash flood waters on Interstate 90 Eastbound near the 41-mile marker.

Assistant Chief 201 and Utility 219, along with four water rescue technicians and two support personnel, arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway and partially submerged in the flood waters.

After quickly surveying the scene and assessing the stability of the vehicle, our water rescue technicians entered the water and successfully removed all four occupants from the vehicle. The occupants were brought to the safety of Utility 219.

Thankfully, all four occupants were uninjured. ❤️

The remaining units assigned to the vehicle accident alarm arrived on scene and stood by while the incident was managed. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.

🚨 FLASH FLOOD WARNING — NORTH EAST🚨

Significant rainfall has fallen across the area, and the National Weather Service has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for Erie County until 12:00 PM TODAY.

🌧️ 1–2 INCHES OF RAIN has already fallen throughout portions of the county, creating the potential for rapidly rising water and flooded roadways.

⚠️ PLEASE USE CAUTION:
• Never drive through a flooded roadway.
• Avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas.
• Watch for standing or moving water on roadways.
• Be especially cautious around creeks, streams and drainage areas.
• If you encounter a flooded road — TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

🚒 Please give emergency crews room to work and NEVER drive around barricades.

Stay weather aware and use caution if traveling this morning.
