Last night during our weekly training night, Crescent members teamed up with the Harborcreek Fire Department to conduct hands-on vehicle rescue training. Crews practiced a variety of basic vehicle rescue (BVR) skills, including patient extraction techniques and patient assessment during motor vehicle accidents.

Following rescue operations training, members worked together on vehicle fire suppression scenarios to further strengthen interdepartmental coordination and operational readiness. We would like to thank the Harborcreek Fire Department for joining us for an evening of valuable training and teamwork.

Interested in becoming part of the team? We have a place for you, stop by any Tuesday evening to pick up an application and learn more about joining. No experience is necessary — all training is provided.

Today, Gunner Keener, Josh Stanbro, and Coen Turri of Crescent Hose Company, along with Joe Beach of Fuller Hose Company, and several other firefighters from local departments, successfully completed their Firefighter Essentials training.

After several months of classroom instruction, hands-on drills, and practical training, the course concluded with a live fire burn scenario, allowing the students to put their newly learned skills to the test in a realistic environment.

This training marks an important step in becoming interior firefighters and prepares these members for the challenges and responsibilities of the fire service.

We are proud of the hard work and dedication these firefighters showed throughout the class and look forward to seeing them continue to grow within the fire service.

It’s been a busy start to the week for Crescent Hose Company members, balancing both emergency responses and training.

Monday Night:
Ladder 209, Engine 212, Fuller Hose Company #1 202, and Harborcreek Fire Department Engine 222 responded for a possible house fire in the borough. Crews quickly located the cause of the issue and handled it before it could potentially cause serious damage. Kuhl Hose Fire Department Engine 683 responded and held the RIT assignment.

Tuesday Afternoon:
Engine 212, Engine 204, and Squad 207 responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 90. Upon arrival, crews located a small smoldering fire and quickly extinguished it.

Tuesday Night Drill:
This week’s training focused on teaching newer members the basics of fireground ventilation techniques. Firefighters practiced:
Horizontal ventilation using positive pressure fans
Hydraulic ventilation utilizing fire hoses
Vertical ventilation by cutting ventilation holes in a roof

The drill demonstrated the different ways firefighters remove heat and smoke from a structure to improve interior conditions and increase safety for both victims and firefighters.

Interested in learning skills like these and becoming part of the team? Crescent Hose Company is always looking for new members interested in firefighting, EMS, and fire police. Training is provided — no experience necessary.

🌟Member Spotlight: Adam Chrispen🌟

This week we are proud to highlight Adam Chrispen, one of Crescent Hose Company’s dedicated members and our Rescue Lieutenant (L-8).

Adam holds several certifications including Paramedic, Interior Firefighter, HAZMAT, BVR, Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD), and Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD), bringing a high level of training and experience to our department.

Adam’s path into the fire service started after spending time at the station during family game night with his future wife’s family. Watching members respond to calls sparked his interest, and when he offered to help, it quickly turned into something more. He hasn’t looked back since, he has only moved forward and furthered his training and knowledge.

One of Adam’s favorite memories is his first acquired structure burn class held in North East. That experience opened his eyes to the high level of training, professionalism, and expertise within the department, while also showing just how much the members of Crescent support one another. It reinforced to him what the fire service is all about. We strive to work as a team, trust each other, and always have each other's backs.

We’re proud to have Adam as part of the Crescent Hose Company family and we are incredibly thankful for the leadership and dedication he brings to the rescue company.

Interested in becoming part of the team? Stop by the station or send us a message to learn how you can get involved.

🔥Mutual Aid Response🔥
Ripley, NY

Last night, after completing fire behavior training, Crescent Hose Company was dispatched to assist Ripley Hose Company #1 with a reported structure fire.
Ladder 209 and Rescue 208 responded within minutes of dispatch, arriving just behind a Ripley engine already on scene. They found the fire which involved vehicles and outdoor rubbish, not a structure.
Crews from 209 deployed an attack line and, working together with Ripley firefighters, brought the fire under control within approximately 20 minutes. Rescue 208 utilized the Hurst tools to gain better access to the vehicles and ensure complete extinguishment. Firefighters from both departments remained on scene to make sure the area was safe and all fire was fully extinguished.

After the fire was knocked down, crews on scene assisted with overhaul operations, as well as cleaning up hose and equipment. Upon returning to the station, firefighters continued working to reset the equipment by washing hose and tools used on the call, ensuring everything was ready for the next response.
We always appreciate the opportunity to work alongside our mutual aid partners, strengthening teamwork and coordination that benefits the entire community.

Step Up. Answer the Call.
Crescent Hose Company is looking for individuals ready to take on a challenge and become volunteer firefighters. This isn’t just a membership, it’s a chance to gain real skills, train alongside a dedicated team, and be there when your community needs it most.
No experience? No problem. We provide the training, gear, and support to get you started. All it takes is the drive to learn and the willingness to step forward.

Stop by the station or send us a message, your community is counting on you.
