Dear MAUSD Community:

Please help me welcome Christopher Nichols as the new middle school principal at Mt. Abraham. Mr. Nichols spent many years as a middle school social studies teacher and is currently assistant principal at Marcus High School in Texas. See below for a message from Mr. Nichols.

From Mr. Nichols:

"I am excited to be joining the Mount Abraham school community. What stood out to me about Mt. Abe was a strong sense of alignment - the culture, values, relationships, and the way people show up for one another. Finding the right fit matters, and I have found that here. I’m looking forward to being part of a community that cares deeply about its students and about each other, and to seeing where that shared commitment takes us.

I come to Mt. Abe after more than two decades in education, and while I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles, what matters most to me is simple: building strong relationships, being present, and contributing to a school that feels like a true community - one where students want to be. Outside of school, I’m a father who cares deeply about creating stability and opportunity for my daughter. I enjoy thoughtful conversations, time outdoors, music, reading, and the arts. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be here and look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and families who make this community what it is."

Monkton Central School is hosting its annual Kindergarten registration day on Friday, May 8th for any Monkton child who will be turning 5 before September 1, 2026. If you have not yet registered your child for Kindergarten, please call our main office at 802-453-2314 to schedule a time to visit. Kindergarten registration is always open. Please feel free to reach out to our main office with any questions.

Hello Monkton families!

We just ended our month-long Reading fundraiser! Our students raised $12,100 this month!

Our top readers were as follows:
Kindergarten: Sydney R. with 2,777 minutes
First: Tie: Aria and Ellie C. with 2,959 minutes
Second: Connor R. with 6,067 minutes
Third: Grace W. with 3,226 minutes
Fourth: Charlotte S. with 5,135 minutes
Fifth: Isabella D. with 2,333 minutes
Sixth: Zoe H. with 5,130 minutes

A special thanks to our teachers and Cassie Loucy who helped put together our Read-a-thon. Also, Ms. McLane who came back to help gather raffle prizes for our students! Another thanks to the parents who helped out with decorating the hallway and counting minutes.

One last big thank you to all of our sponsors!! We had over 40 prizes to hand out! We are very appreciative of all the Vermont Businesses!

As always, we ended our Read-a-thon with students voting for a couple teachers to go through a "car wash". We had a blast!
