This week, we kicked off our first days of GRiTelementary and began our learning journey! Just like an active construction site, learning takes time, effort, and practice.

We're putting safety first while learning how to actively build, grow, and strengthen our brains each day! GRiTelementary comes from our partners at RewiredEdu, and it teaches kids how their own brains work: how to settle themselves when they're upset, how to belong, and how to build habits that stick. It's woven right into the rhythm of our school day.

A HUGE shoutout to CD Smith for providing construction hats for all of our students to help us kick off our Brains Under Construction journey! We are so grateful for your support!

There is still time to apply for Oriole Academy!

We are looking for parents, guardians, alumni, business leaders, senior citizens, and community members who want a closer look at how NFDL schools work.

This monthly experience gives participants a chance to go behind the scenes, hear from students and staff, ask questions, tour spaces, and better understand the decisions and systems that support our schools.

You do not need to be an education expert. You just need to care about the future of our students and community.

Applications are open through September 8, 2026.
