For those who've watched The Great British Bake-Off and lamented, "If only it took place in scenic North Garden, Virginia": wow, do we have fantastic news for you! On Saturday, November 2nd, we will be hosting our Annual Apple Pie Contest, during our festival!

Entering is free & easy (details on our website), and the glory of winning is sweeter than cake (though there are some pretty sweet prizes, too!). Plus, each pie will be sold by the slice after the contest, with all proceeds going to the Cove Garden Ruritans, for their philanthropic efforts.

Hope to see you at the Festival!

The Sheffield Pink Mums are in their full glory!

For the past few years, these perennials have been so prolific that weโ€™ve been able to propagate pots to hand out on Motherโ€™s Day.
This year, this mama mum made 90!

If youโ€™ve brought home one of these babies in the past few years ! Weโ€™d love to know how theyโ€™re doing

Start your engines ๐Ÿšœ Augustโ€™s Cider of the Month is a single-varietal of a vintage apple: the Black Twig. This dry cider is tart & tannic, with a hint of spice on the finish. It partners well with bold flavors, and can be purchased online or in the Tasting Room for 20% off through the end of the month.

It's August! Apple Season is not yet here, but it's on the horizon. We have an orchard full of increasingly heavy branches (minus the summer apples that we've picked in preparation of making Cider) and a calendar full of amazing music.

Dolgo Apples! "A little high acid cider bomb" as Chuck calls them.

These apples are tiny, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches thick and have a sharp-bitter quality that translates into great cider. They're one that we've used in our Crab Medley Cider, as well as our Jupiter's Legacy.

We're currently picking our summer apples that will be made into Cider (we won't have apples for sale until later on)

A heart-filled thanks to all those who helped us celebrate our 15th Anniversary, and to those who helped us get there. This orchard, "a backyard hobby that quickly got out of control", has been the backdrop to one magical moment after another over the past quin-decennial: this weekend was no exception, and surpassed our expectations

We get a bit sentimental looking back on the photos from this date 15 years ago when then Governor, now US Senator, attended the Grand Opening of our Tasting Room (then only one room and the barn). We've grown so much since, and look forward to many more years of cultivating vintage varieties of apples, crafting Cider, and teaching the next generation to plant, graft & prune

Thanks again to all those who've supported & celebrated the fruits of our labor. May your cups runneth over (with really good Cider).

From our orchard to your glass,

Introducing our July Cider of the Month, the Old Virginia Winesap!

The tasting notes of this Cider tell a story: the body tastes like a tree-ripened-apple (left on the branch long enough for sugars to fully develop), with an aftertaste of steamed or baked apples (but without cinnamon). If you want a Cider that tastes distinctly like an apple, this is the one.

This crisp, dry Cider is the perfect pairing for either a summertime picnic or an internal fantasy of fall, and it's 20% off throughout July in both the Tasting Room & on our website

Pictured: an easily assembled picnic that you could recreate on our lawn. Our tasting room stocks:
๐Ÿฅ“ a variety of cured meats
๐Ÿฅ” 5 varieties of local potato chips
๐Ÿฅ–baguettes baked on demand by MarieBette Cafe
๐Ÿ๐Ÿง€ goat cheese from Caromont Farm
๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿง€ gouda from Our Lady of the Angels Monastery
๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฌ "Cider Pops" from Cville Candy

Outside food is allowed, and luckily for us, both Dr. Ho's Humble Pie .hoshumblepie and Polly's Folly are nearby neighbors who offer heavier fare.
