Impartial decisions and policies are the foundation of our interactions.

The North Haledon Police Department is under the command of Chief Todd Darby, Captain Marc Rowe and Lieutenants David Parenta and Anthony Conforti. We are comprised of twenty sworn Police Officers, including the Chief, Captain, two Lieutenants, four Sergeants, one Detective Sergeant, one Detective and eight Patrol Officers, one of which is assigned to traffic enforcement and is also the liaison to

the schools through the LEAD program. Two Class II Special Police Officers supplement the patrol force, four full-time dispatchers and part-time dispatchers. All patrol officers and a majority of the civilian staff have received training as Emergency Medical Technicians. Along with the defibrillators carried in the police units, this training enables members of the Police Department to respond to medical emergencies and begin first aid and/or lifesaving efforts prior to the response of emergency medical personnel. Emphasizing the importance of education, fourteen officers have, or are pursuing, degrees in criminal justice. Eight of these officers have already gone on to receive their Masters Degree in Public Administration and Human Resources. All officers receive ongoing training in law enforcement practices by attending in-service training at the police academies located in Passaic County and throughout the state. Please remember to report any suspicious activity and to call 9-1-1 to report an emergency or 973-423-1111 for any other police matter. Mission Statement:

Over the past several weeks, the North Haledon Police Department has received an increased number of complaints from residents of Lakeside Estates regarding trespassing incidents.
Individuals have been entering private property surrounding the lake to fish and swim. We want to remind the public that Lakeside Estates is private property, and is utilized by their residents only. Unauthorized access, regardless of intent, constitutes trespassing and may result in enforcement action, including the issuance of summonses. We would like to advise everyone enforcement actions have already been taken, summonses have been issued, and will continue as necessary.
The property owners have been advised to take additional preventative measures, including posting more signage and securing access points. In the meantime, we ask for the public's cooperation in respecting private property boundaries.
Let’s work together to ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable summer for all members of our community.

PASSAIC COUNTY AGGRESSIVE DRIVER TASK FORCE ANNOUNCEMENT

On Friday, May 22, 2026, officers from various law enforcement agencies throughout Passaic County and Morris County, including the North Haldeon Police Department, will participate in a coordinated traffic enforcement initiative targeting aggressive driving behaviors.

With Memorial Day Weekend traditionally bringing thousands of additional motorists onto our roadways, law enforcement agencies are increasing enforcement efforts to help ensure the safety of all travelers. Officers will focus on violations commonly associated with aggressive driving, including speeding, tailgating, unsafe lane changes, distracted driving, and other hazardous motor vehicle offenses.

The goal of this coordinated initiative is to reduce aggressive driving incidents, prevent serious motor vehicle crashes, and ultimately save lives during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

Motorists are reminded to obey all traffic laws, remain patient behind the wheel, avoid distractions, and drive responsibly.
