Northeast Volunteer Firefighters Association is looking for dedicated and service-driven members of our community!
How?
Stop by Northeast Vol. Company 4 (366 Washington Ave, North Haven, CT) anytime between 6 p.m.-9 p.m. on Wednesdays. Send us a message anytime, and one of our members will answer any questions you might have.
Why?
Help your neighbors! Serving your community in their time of need and gaining fire service experience. Volunteering is a great start for individuals interested in a career in the fire service. Northeast responds to emergencies town-wide, allowing our members to gain experience in multiple different call types.
How?
Volunteering in a busy town can be daunting, especially with work and family life. However, many hands make light work, and by becoming a member, the workload is spread out across more members.
North Haven's Fire Department provides us with state-of-the-art equipment. Last year, Chief Januszewski and the department's administration generously assigned a brand new fire engine to our station for our members to provide services to the community. Additionally, our department provides us with weekly training from a Deputy Chief with decades of experience and expertise in the fire service. While responding to emergencies and further learning the craft, we have highly trained and knowledgeable Shift Commanders who provide us with on-the-road tips and tricks to better serve the community. Members interested in a career in the fire service will have a great advantage by learning from these professionals, before getting on the job. Our station's leadership has decades of combined experience and knowledge that will teach you the foundation of the fire service, making further Fire Service education that much easier. Lastly, thanks to a generous donation from Quinnipiac University, our second floor has been completely remodeled, providing us with a modern day room, bunkrooms, and a kitchen for standbys and other instances that require us to staff our station.
The Town of North Haven also supports its volunteers by offering a tax abatement for members with taxable property. They also provide other means of compensation if you don’t own property. This compensation is dependent on your call attendance and training attendance.
Moral of the story, North Haven is a great town to volunteer in. Whether a new homeowner, long time resident, resident of a neighboring community or just someone looking to give back. We’d love to hear from you and answer any questions you might have. Feel free to shoot us a message or comment on this post and we will make sure no questions or inquiries go unanswered.
We greatly appreciate our community’s support, we will continue to serve the community to the best of our ability.
