***Operation Bad Decisions***

On August 28th, 2026 North Haven Detectives, in collaboration with Homeland Security, Connecticut State Police, the State of Connecticut Division of Scientific Services Digital Forensic Unit, the Office of State's Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven, and several neighboring police departments, successfully concluded an undercover operation designed to identify and apprehend individuals attempting to sexually exploit minors online.

Following hours of intensive operations, three individuals were taken into custody on serious charges related to child sexual predation.

• Johnathan Parra Gonzales, 24, of West Haven, was arrested and charged with Commercial Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Enticing a Minor, and Criminal Attempt Sexual Assault 2nd Degree. Upon Johnathan’s arrival he was in possession of a firearm which was seized at the time of arrest. He is being held on a $300,000 bond.

• Mohammadullah Majbor, 42, of New Haven, was arrested and charged with Commercial Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Enticing a Minor, and Criminal Attempt Sexual Assault 2nd Degree. He is being held on a $300,000 bond.

• Michael Ryans, 35, of Bloomfield, was arrested and charged with Commercial Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Enticing a Minor, and Criminal Attempt Sexual Assault 2nd Degree. He was released after posting a $300,000 bond.

🚌 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY REMINDER 🚌

School starts Monday! When you see a school bus with its stop sign extended and lights flashing, you MUST stop — in both directions on most roads.

Our school bus arm camera system (active since April) is enforcing this. Passing a stopped school bus isn’t just dangerous, it will now result in a citation in the mail.

Slow down. Stop for the sign. Protect our kids!

Last night a street takeover which traversed through several towns in New Haven county brought a swarm of motorcycles, scooters, and off-road vehicles through town. A few highlights:

One rider decided fleeing from police was a better plan than facing them — spoiler alert, it wasn't. He ditched his motorcycle mid-getaway and had to hop on the back of another rider's bike just to get out of there. We figure that indignity alone is punishment enough. He's presumably still explaining to his group chat what happened to his bike. The bike itself, however, is now ours.

Javier Gonzalez, 29, wasn't quite as lucky in the "not getting caught" department. He was arrested and charged with Engaging in Pursuit, Reckless Driving, Failure to Have Insurance, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. His bike was seized.

These events put riders, drivers, and pedestrians at serious risk. Street takeovers are dangerous, and we will continue to take action to stop them here in North Haven — including coordinating with neighboring departments to get ahead of these events before they happen.

Following the arrest of 55-year-old Meriden resident, Scottie Anthony on April 13th, 2026, North Haven Police Detectives obtained search warrants for cellular devices associated with the investigation. Upon review and forensic examination of the data obtained through the ex*****on of the search warrants, Detectives identified evidence indicating that Anthony was in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Detectives continued their investigation and prepared an arrest warrant, which was subsequently approved. On August 10, 2026, Anthony was taken into custody, transported to the North Haven Police Department, and formally charged with Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material in the Third Degree.

Anthony was released on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The North Haven Police Department remains committed to protecting those who are most vulnerable, particularly children. We will continue to pursue those who seek to exploit them and work diligently to ensure that victims are protected and offenders are held accountable.

The sun has apparently chosen violence, and your car’s steering wheel is now a legitimate burn hazard.

Drink some water. Find some shade. Turn on the AC. Maybe don’t decide that today is the perfect day to run a marathon in jeans.

And for the love of everything holy, DO NOT leave your kids or pets in a hot car.

On July 9, 2026, North Haven Detectives initiated an investigation into the dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Detectives were notified by a complainant that a client of a local business had utilized a shared electronic link to upload a video depicting child sexual abuse material.

Through the ex*****on of multiple search warrants and with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), North Haven Detectives identified the individual responsible as 53-year-old Bristol resident, Daniel Milbrandt.

As the investigation progressed, North Haven Detectives obtained a residential search warrant and an arrest warrant for Milbrandt and his residence. On the morning of August 4, 2026, North Haven Detectives executed the residential search warrant and arrest warrant at Milbrandt's residence and took him into custody.

Milbrandt was transported to the North Haven Police Department, where he was charged with Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material in the Third Degree and held on a $75,000 court-set bond.

The North Haven Police Department is proud to have detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a collaborative partnership of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to investigating the online exploitation of children, identifying offenders, rescuing victims, and preventing technology-facilitated crimes against children. In addition to their ICAC responsibilities, these detectives continue to handle other high-priority criminal investigations while utilizing their specialized training and experience to aggressively pursue individuals who seek to exploit or harm children.

The North Haven Police Department has zero tolerance for crimes involving the victimization of children and will continue to dedicate every available resource toward identifying offenders, protecting victims, and holding those responsible accountable.

On the morning of July 25, 2026, North Haven patrol officers responded to a residence on Hartford Turnpike for a reported family violence incident. Upon arrival, officers learned that a dispute had occurred between family members, during which threats of physical harm were made.

Officer Dahlstrom and his K9 partner, Cyrus, responded to assist in locating the involved suspect. K9 Cyrus conducted a thorough track and guided officers to a shed in the area, where the suspect was discovered hiding inside.

When given commands to exit, the suspect began to comply but then reached toward his pockets / waistband. Recognizing the threat posed by this movement, officers deployed K9 Cyrus, who assisted in subduing the suspect and allowed officers to safely place him in handcuffs. Once the suspect was secured, officers recovered a switchblade knife from his pocket.

The suspect was arrested and charged with Threatening in the Second Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Interfering with an Officer.

The North Haven Police Department is proud to maintain an effective and highly trained K9 Program that provides invaluable support to our officers and enhances the safety of our community. From meeting kids at a daycare, to sniffing out he**in during a traffic stop, to gaining compliance from uncooperative suspects, these dogs do it all. We commend our K9 officers and their partners for their outstanding work and the critical role they play within the North Haven Police Department.
