Well that was quite the storm we had last night !!!
At 7:25 North Hero Fire was dispatched for a vehicle that had been struck by a tree . While on route other incidents were reported on the northern end of our island . The storm had rolled in from the west and also affected areas of Isle Lamotte and Alburgh .
Heavily affected were Lakeview Drive and Holiday Point in North Hero . Once the storm passed a collaborative effort by many opened up the roadways , some only left to single lane travel while VELCO crews worked to access damage and get power back on to its customers.

On Tuesday morning members of North Hero Fire volunteered to go help clear Holiday Point Rd in North Hero which remained impassable until daylight .

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family , friends and our brothers and sisters at Sharon Vol Fire Dept at the sad news of Dave’s passing .
I was fortunate to have met Dave at Ladds Landing in Grand Isle where he kept his boats and spent his time on the water with his marina family . We often chatted about the fire service , boats and just about anything. A true gentleman, top notch technician and good soul .
May the four winds carry you home . Rest easy Chief , we have it from here .

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of retired Sharon Fire Chief David Potter .David dedicated many years of service to the Sharon community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family friends and fellow firefighters during this difficult time.
May you rest in peace, Chief Potter

Contractor Appreciation Day !
North Hero Edition :

Don Stewart and Andy Alling ( Project Director and Clerk ) thought it was a good idea to do something nice for the DEW Construction crews and their contractors who are working very very hard getting the new buildings done . This set forth a collaborative effort to pull this off . A Barbecue at the job site for the crews .
With food provided by Don Stewart , North Hero Fire , our Auxiliary, Town office staff and The Main Stop in Alburgh . Great Eats !!!!
The project is really coming along nicely and we very very pleased with the progress that’s happening ! Look for some updates later next week !

Our condolences to the family, friends and our brothers and sisters on Grand Isle Vol Fire Department on the passing of Fred Mashtare .
Fred was a family man who loved his wife and kids with all of his heart . His other love was volunteering in the fire service . With nearly 40 years in the brotherhood .
Fred served on Alburgh , South Hero , North Hero and was an active member of Grand Isle at the time of his passing .
Fred also served on the North Country International Fire Training board since 2009 .
Fred came from a family of fire fighters . Following in the footsteps of his father Millard , his Uncle Donald and older brother Scott . The Mashtare family has strong roots in North Hero Fire dating back to the early 60s .
Fred was a friend and a brother . We took Firefighter 2 together and Fred would regularly reach out to talk or just have a good old grumpy old firefighter bitch session with me . He always ended our calls with “ ok Mr . Thanks for listening “
Fred , I’ll see you on the top step until then Rest in Peace our brother . We have it from here .
